Update on Twisha Sharma. The Supreme Court heard the case this morning. The bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi, concluded the hearing with a series of clear directions. The CBI is expected to take over the investigation within 24 hours. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the bench that the CBI was prepared and administrative steps for the transfer would begin the same day. The second autopsy has been completed. A four member AIIMS Delhi medical board flew to Bhopal on a state charter plane and conducted the postmortem. The findings have not yet been made public. The court said, “Whatever unfortunate incident has taken place, it must be investigated fairly, independently and impartially.” Solicitor General Mehta said during the hearing, “Without attributing motives to either side, the moral of the story is clear. It is better to have a divorced daughter than a dead one.” The bench asked all sides to stop litigating this matter on television and in public statements. “Record statements before the authority concerned, not elsewhere,” the court said. The court also clarified that none of its observations should be treated as comments on the merits of the allegations. Twisha Sharma, 33 years old, former Miss Pune and actress, was found dead at her marital home in Katara Hills, Bhopal on May 12. Her husband Samarth Singh is in seven day police custody until May 29.
