Things can change in a blink of an eye … it is tough watching photos of a “year ago” and think “who would have imagined life will change so much” since then

It’s after midnight, but it’s still May the fourth somewhere in the world, and I didn’t want the annual ‘break the internet’ opportunity to pass… I know…I know…He’s the bad guy…but just go with the moment…

Ⲡⲓⲭ̀ⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲛϥ CHRIST IS RISEN! A beautifully uplifting Resurrection Feast Liturgy at Saint George @CopticDiocese, with its wonderful Cathedral Choir and community. ‘As we celebrate tonight, we must remember that our celebration is not purely symbolic; it is a real joy that must be shared with the world. It is the joy of a people reconciled, reunited and restored to life; a reality that surely transformsour world. We rejoice with Saint John Chrysostom when he proclaims “’O Death, where is your sting? O Hell, where is your victory?’ Christ is risen, and you are overthrown. Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen. Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice. Christ is risen, and life reigns”.’

Returned late one evening and switched my television on to discover the end of the Richard Dimbleby Lecture, given by former @England manager, Sir @GarethSouthgate. Such a gracious and thoughtful person, and an example of encouraging and empowering leadership for young men and women alike, but in this lecture, focusing on young men, whom he sees as “…suffering…feeling isolated...grappling with their masculinity and with their broader place in society.” Some food for thought: “I saw the effects of the decisions I didn’t take.” “One of the most impactful things we can do for women is to focus on improving young men.” “We need leaders to set the right tone. To be the role models we want for our young men. We have to show young men that character is more important than status. That how you treat others is more important than how much money you make.” “Not everyone will win trophies. Not everyone will be at the top of their field. But everyone can live a life where they can constantly strive to improve. Where they can look back and say, ‘I gave my best, I stayed true to myself, and I made a difference.’ That is real success.”

A beautiful Liturgy and youth fellowship meeting this morning in #Dubai at StMinaDubai.org. We must never lower the bar of our expectation of ourselves to a level at which we are merely NOT doing what is wrong, but must excel to the best of our ability to be an example to all those we meet along the journey of our lives.

At a recent Crowning (Wedding) Ceremony the Reader incorrectly concluded the Pauline epistle by wishing attendees “the grace of the God Father”. The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of London wishes to state, categorically and without exception, that it has no ties to and does not in any way support or condone, the activities of Don Carleone or any other member of his family or organisation.
