"Total catastrophic collapse"? That's a bit of an overstatement. The American health care system is among the best in the world. So muh so, in fact that if someone wealthy becomes terminally ill in another country, something like 80% seek treatment in the United States. Where we're struggling may be the result of feminism and DEI policies removing merit-based rewards. Just like pilots and air travel, I'm all for giving everyone a fair shot, but when I'm on the plane, I want the best person for the job to be flying it. Same thing with surgeons, gynecologists and oncologists – You just want the best physician available. If we let people make their own choices and stop trying to artificially boost "underrepresented groups", most of the time, they'll be men.

@antiprohibit @Efrwqt An aside - there absolutely is misogyny in medicine. It's appalling, thank goodness it's not 100% across the board. But it's getting worse by the day. Our medical systems are in total catastrophic collapse.

Yup. Firstly I got misdiagnosed by a GP. Then I Called a friend to come get me and run me to A&E. Increasing SOB over a week+, felt ghaslty. Couldn’t lie down, had taken to lying propped up on the sofa at night to aid breathing. Now couldn’t manage a sentence. Strong fam history of PEs. I told Dr in A&E that it felt like there was a brick in my chest that I couldn’t breathe thru. He told me I was having a panic attack. My O2 sats were ok. I’m a singer. Scuba diver. Play clarinet. Did syncro swimming. So had lungs of steel. Something was compensating because I usually had excellent lung function and know how to use all of my lungs. I told him I’d never had a panic attack in my life and wasn’t starting now. He was obnoxious and stroppy. Def did the arterial blood gases even more brutally to make a point. But his face when my X-rays went up and I said - that’s why I can’t breathe then. He was stunned into silence and just stood there staring, turned pale. I had v v severe pneumonia in my r lung and had no middle or bottom lobe function. Total white out. I was so so ill. And all hell broke loose after that. People came running. I’m so so damn tired of women being treated as hysterics. Not being heard. I would’ve died if I hadn’t stood my ground.

@PainSteals @Efrwqt I'm sorry that you're struggling. I don't think it's misogyny, though. My wife is fast approaching menopause, and we're done having children. Her healthcare is identical to what it was prior to that development, however, if not better.

That's why - once we get past 'breeding age', medicine is quick to write us females off. And if it's a sick woman, well, she shouldn't be having children anyway. Culling the herd, survival of the fittest, and all that. The misogyny of modern medicine... I absolutely hate that the health care system even makes this thought occur to us.

This is an absurd position on two levels: First, women can't "create life." Neither can men. A population of only women would die off just as quickly as a population of only men. Second: Men and women both die, and last I checked, men die sooner than women. This proves logically that your entire premise is bogus. Even if we ignore that PROOF, however, I want to attack your worldview for a minute. It seems like you're attributing malice towards statistical outcomes. I bet you also believe in the "gender pay gap" too, don't you? Be honest.

Try reading what he actually SAID, not what you INTERPRETED. He never said he was banned. He said "calling X [a] free speech [platform] is a belligerent lie." Based on what I'm reading from Elon Musk, other accounts, and using my brain, it's obvious there's truth to this statement.

This isn't surprising. They "scheduled" opium (instead of outright prohibiting it, although the effect is still the same), despite there being ZERO recorded overdoses from raw opium (which comes from a specific type of poppy). They don't want natural remedies; they want big pharma, and all of the damage and control that comes with it.

@antiprohibit And now they are trying to ban natural leaf kratom when it has helped so many people manage their chronic pain, but, no, it cuts into doctors getting paid an arm and a leg and, oh, I forget, chronic pain patients are just supposed to take nsaids and suffer.

Especially when you consider the fact that we addicts still get opioids (much stronger than morphine, oxycodone, or even heroin) regardless of these restrictions. The problem is the government is attempting to legislate human behavior away. Now, addicts are still not clean and suffering from preventable overdoses, and non-addicts are suffering from preventable pain. Good job, Uncle Sam. You've managed to save exactly no one, while harming everyone.

The refusal to give pain meds with major injury is maddening. That we have to suffer because other people are addicts is wrong. Doctors need to stop this. I just went through it with my daughter tearing her ACL. They refused to give her anything stronger than Tylenol and Advil for weeks before surgery. That's cruel
