@RealDianeYap @PaulEWalnutzzz No he’s exactly right that’s how men read it. That women by delaying sex are being transactional and making the man pay for it. It appears to men that the men who get easy sex are the only ones having real authentic sex. Everything else is a kind of prostitution

@PaulEWalnutzzz It doesn’t signify that at all. That may be how men operate: how long they can resist sex may be a function of how hot the woman is and only that, but women are more sophisticated and sex is not the main goal, even with the world’s hottest guy.

Why are men so concerned with women "giving it up for less" to previous guys? They think of sex as something they're buying from a woman and they want a good bargain. So if a woman ever gave another man a better "deal", then he's upset and demands the same one. They see all women as prostitutes and sex as something they have to "pay for" in time, dates, attention. They're shopping for the best deal. Not only do these kinds of men see you as a whore, they want to buy you as cheaply as possible. If you don't want to be treated like a piece of meat by a bargain hunting man, be sure to refuse sex until he's poured enough of his resources into proving he's different.

These protestors believe — quite justifiably — that Kristof’s column was full of deliberately incendiary falsehoods and that the New York Times shouldn’t have run it. Indeed, despite Rhodes’ use of the word “reporting” the dog rape canard was not reported by the NYT at all. Rhodes knows all this. He knows that’s why they’re protesting. He just has to say this obviously bad faith crap to further impugn Israel and Israel supporters. In fact, it seems like Rhodes doesn’t care whether Kristof’s account is accurate, because it served his purposes just fine.
Ben Rhodes@brhodes

Why not be angry at the conduct instead of the reporting of the conduct?

Wild to think about how if Kristof lived in Gaza or the West Bank, the Israeli military would likely by now have just announced he was aiding terrorism and blown him up with guided missiles, as they’ve done to countless Palestinian journalists over the last three years.

reading the book where this research comes from right now — it's excellent. make sure to go get @adamjohnsonCHI's "How to Sell a Genocide," and check out the Intercept piece linked in this thread for some excellent data viz of Adam's very infuriating findings

WOW! @Theintercept reviewed more than 12000 print articles and 5000 TV segments to check for biases on Israel-Palestine. I thought it would be bad. I had no idea it was THIS bad. No wonder Gaza killed what little credibility mianstream media had. In NYT, Israel's right to defend itself was invoked 99 times. Only once for Palestine. On CNN and MSNBC, it was invoked 755 times for Israel. But only 8 times for Palestine. Emotive words such as slaughter and massacre were used frequently when Israelis had been killed. They were NEVER used in print when Palestinians were killed. In Ukraine, 262 children were killed in the war, and it was mentioned 4223 times. In Palestine, more than 10,000 children were killed, but it was mentioned only 3632. The full article is in the subtweet. It's a MUST READ:

@MeghanEMurphy Yes, there needs to be constraints on both men and women’s worst nature. Men need to be restrained from porn addiction and sexually assaulting women. Women need to be restrained from turning human society into one big sex competition where only 5 men have sex with all of them

I will also just say that people who claim Oct 7 sexual violence against Israelis is a "hoax" should not be trusted any more than the people who claim Palestinian prisoners are not mistreated. They have made clear that ideology trumps reality. The mondoweiss / grayzone / electronic intifada crowd are not honest actors.

It has been profoundly depressing (and enraging) to see the many sexual assaults that occurred on Oct. 7 written off as a hoax. You can support the cause of Palestinian freedom and recognize (and condemn) the horrors Hamas & others visited upon Israelis. cnn.com/2026/05/12/mid…

If you have $10 million in a high-yield savings account, you’re pulling $500,000 a year in interest for doing literally nothing. Why are you on here? Why aren’t you just always off hanging out, doing cool shit, never looking at this garbage? I truly don’t get it. Now do hundred millionaires and billionaires. Like, literally they and whole generations of their kin will never have to financially worry about anything. Why are so many of them so unhappy and angsty and locked into so many stressful things in the attention economy? I can’t get my head around it

Hard lesson @NickKristof will learn: Repeating lies about rapes on Oct 7, won't soften fanatical Zionist anger about his truthful reporting on Israeli rapes of Palestinians. He only discredits himself and undermines his good reporting by sticking with @gettleman's lies
Nicholas Kristof@NickKristof

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: nytimes.com/2026/05/11/opi…

10-post thread of rape denial. I do believe that serious allegations deserve serious scrutiny, but this thread includes nothing of any substance. On the other hand, when the allegations put forward by the New York Times in its "Screams Without Words" article were scrutinized, major discrepancies that undercut the claims were quickly discovered. The Times has done a much better job with this article, by actually finding victims, eye witnesses, and medical reports, all of which were missing from its 10/7 investigation.
HonestReporting@HonestReporting

1/ The @nytimes just published one of the most serious sets of allegations imaginable against Israel – claims of systematic sexual violence, including a bizarre story about carrots and trained rape dogs. We checked the sources. What we found is journalistic malpractice. 🧵

@jakozloski The dating app artifact amplifies the worst of female nature. In the real world, women are able to reflect and find someone they like without him being the princes of princes. But dating apps are a constant drum beat of “you could have this prince or that prince or that one”

There's a popular claim in online dating discourse that women only want the top 10-15% of men. The data says this is false. 87% of 40-year-olds in 2000 had married. They did their dating in the 80s and 90s, after the cultural revolution but before swipe apps. If 85% of women only wanted the top 15% of men, that marriage rate would be mathematically impossible. The pattern is a dating app artifact, not female nature.

We all read your reports, Barak. Your website still hosts them. You reported on April 15, 17, 26, May 5, 6, 7 that a deal was close. (The last was probably not in the Iranian count.)
Barak Ravid@BarakRavid

🚨This is a Lie! Axios didn't report even once over the last three weeks that a deal was "imminent". The Iranian regime, its state TV and its Bots and influence accounts on social media are pushing this lie. It's a regime propaganda campaign. Don't fall for it or amplify it

@morganhousel Childcare was a grandparent in 1955. Now it's a $20,000 line item per kid. Once daycare clears before groceries on a household budget, fertility starts looking like a luxury good. That's the variable nobody puts on the chart.

I don't fully buy the idea that living in an age of uncertainty is what's driving the decline in fertility. The Baby Boom took place when your kids had to practice duck-and-cover drills at school to prepare for what was seen as the inevitable nuclear apocalypse.
