@WheatWatcher Australia dodged the GFC so just about no impact here but in other countries the impact will last generations.

@Oscarthefarmer Great analogy Oscar. It’s not like we don’t know what we’re getting so I wonder if some voters through ignorance or bloody mindedness are actively stabbing themselves.

Was fucking around with a knife as a kid, accidently stabbed myself in the leg. Within a minute I had pants covered in blood and a huge amount of regret. Requiring 5 internal and 5 external stiches. Took ages to heal that ugly wound. Its analogy apt for this poll.

Tonight’s AFR/RedBridge Accent poll: Labor 54% 2PP vs One Nation Nationally, 60% 2PP in Capital cities vs One Nation. One Nation at 53% 2PP in regional and rural Australia. Yes, in a country that is highly urbanised, that matters. A lot. Labor dominates the capital cities. 60/40 on 2PP. Hanson owns everything else. Albanese is the most hated political figure amongst One Nation voters. Hanson is the most hated political figure amongst Labor and other left voters. One Nation voters rate Albanese at -83. Labor voters rate Hanson at -55. So One Nation’s ability to eat into the progressive block is extremely limited. This is clearly now a Right on Right contest, where One Nation attempts to replace the Coalition as he main Right wing party. It appears One Nation is succeeding. And the Coalition? Third. At 19%. Behind both. Across every single demographic. One Nation has basically replaced it as the major party for conservative Baby Boomers, the regions and practically every other key group that held up the Coalition in the past. Angus Taylor told Fairfax he’s open to a deal with One Nation. When you’re at 19 and One Nation at 28, you’re not making an offer. You’re submitting a résumé. That submission will also lock in Labor’s advantage in the big cities as they will capitalise on this, along with the Teals. @Mistadamage @Tedthekelpie @TheAustralian The focus is on CGT for investment housing. There’s been a lot of modeling showing this change would lower demand and hence prices. There’s no suggestion this change would be made retrospective. Should we be suspicious? Sure, but also not lose sight of the woods for the trees.

@Tedthekelpie @TheAustralian How will you feel when they decide all property (not just houses) should lose the 50% CGT discount. The water us frogs are in is getting warmer now

Will the Industry Super funds (the golden stream funding Labor) be limited to claiming tax deductions on only 2 properties as well? When will someone finally expose this for what it really is: A bare faced plan for big super - that funds Labor's big state - to take over the rental housing market by squeezing mum & dad investors out of it. For the record I don't and never have used negative gearing. That whole self-interest argument is a smoke screen for Labor's genuine agenda here: The rise of the institution over the individual.

@Mistadamage @TheAustralian Agree to some extent Mic. The discussion is about the removal of tax advantages that were introduced specifically for investors in the housing market thats contributed directly to the housing affordability crisis. Corps and super funds are a seperate, but important issue.

@ap_tasker @TheAustralian My post was asking a question relating to the inequity of removing the benefit for family investors but not institutional ones.

@WheatWatcher The comments are just appalling. It’s unbelievable that people feel it’s ok to think and talk like this. That is if they are people, probably some are bots. 🤖

The thing is this women is a deeply problematic persona in #auspol Because she deliberatrly weaponises both ignorance and fear. Instead of facts or the pusuit of knowledge on a topic she pushes emotive and fear creation. So voters are worse off .

Do I want to correct a statement I made this week? The answer is pretty clear in my interview with Chris Kenny. #Apology #ChrisKenny #OneNation #PaulineHanson #Question #SkyNews

@beaugraham3 @Oscarthefarmer This is a long video but it clearly explains immigration into Australia. It’s easy for politicians and media shock jocks to say immigration and immigrants are the problem but it takes effort to understand how they aren’t. youtu.be/WDeCtCL0rrA?si…

@Oscarthefarmer Rampant unmitigated migration being cut shouldn't affect this because skilled/targeted one is still desired by all with a brain.

Yeah. The number of services which rural and remote Australia needs but which is provided by recent migrants to this country... Direct overlay with the areas supporting ONP in polls too?! Bizarre #auspol

@ElbK19 My Doctor is a migrant My Pharmacist is a migrant My last phone deal was done with a migrant My Mother was cared for by extraordinary people including migrants. The One Nation policy is far more about race based fear promotion rather than migrantion.

@Mistadamage But even with those it’s still an each way bet as to which party increased debt and/or had surplus. Menzies et al ran constant deficits but debt fell as a % of GDP only because of growth.

@MSGCapital @GrainSurgeon @JBPritzker It seems that MSG Cap feels that the ends justifies the means. There is a way of dealing with people that are in the US illegally but that requires effort and apparently the individual people including those incorrectly arrested and even killed are not worth the effort.

I have had enough of being told that my homeland, my birthright, does not belong to me. I have had enough of watching people whose ancestors did not cultivate this land, did not build this land, did not die for this land, telling me that I am an illegitimate resident of my own country. I have had enough of watching the beautiful streets and landmarks of this country – which is mine – daily and weekly being sullied, defamed, denigrated, despised, demonised, trashed in reputation and – as the left are so fond of saying – disrespected. @Oscarthefarmer @AvidCommentator It’s so much easier to make the immigrant the problem than consider the complexity of why housing is unaffordable in Australia. Also ignoring where we would be without immigration.

On three occasions in the last 40 years net migration into Australia has surged dramatically. On each occasion there was a rental crisis and asking rents went to the moon. Our leaders keep wilfully repeating the same errors as their predecessors.

@Tedthekelpie @hasselljpb Date isn’t arbitrary at all Sam. It’s been chosen as it’s the day Australia was colonised by the British. Reenactments of the landing and raising of the flag have been a part of the celebration. I don’t think you have been really listening to what “they” have been saying.

One really should be asking all the invasion day people ‘what are you realistically hoping and likely to achieve?’ Do they really think 25million people are just going to pack their bags and bugger off to where their forebears came from? All that energy could be used positively!

@Tedthekelpie @hasselljpb The current Australia Day represents the day the aboriginal people lost their land and human rights which is a big thing. Making it the day Australia became a nation, Federation Day, would be a lot more inclusive. So yes I believe it would make a difference.
