The European Union has adopted extensive sanctions in response to the actions of Iran’s murderous regime and the Revolutionary Guards and has consistently promoted diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing the nuclear and ballistic programmes through a negotiated solution. In close coordination with EU Member States, we will take all necessary steps to ensure that EU citizens in the region can count on our full support. We call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, to protect civilians, and to fully respect international law.

מה שראש הממשלה נחשף אליו הוא רעיון כללי לפשיטה שהוצג ע״י אמ״ן ב-2018 ונפסל כבר אז, ואחר כך שוב ושוב, ע״י כל גורמי הביטחון, כולל 4 ימים בלבד לפני ה-7 באוקטובר.
כפי שעשה מהמסמכים שצירף, ראש הממשלה נתניהו דיווח למבקר המדינה על ההתייחסות לאורך השנים על האפשרות של לפשיטה מעזה.
מי שקורא את המענה המפורט שראש הממשלה הגיש למבקר מבין מיד שלא ראש הממשלה חוטא לאמת, אלא אלה שמעוותים את העובדות כדי לנגח אותו.
להלן העובדות:
ב-2016 העלה ראש הממשלה יחד עם השרים שטייניץ וליברמן את החשש לתרחיש פשיטה. כשגורמי הביטחון אמרו לראש הממשלה שהמכשול העילי חזק דיו והסכנה האמיתית היא פשיטה דרך המנהרות, הוביל ראש הממשלה את בניית המכשול התת-קרקעי שחסם את המנהרות.
ב-2017 ראש הממשלה דיווח בפומבי על סכנת הפשיטה לוועדת ביקורת המדינה.
ב-2018 אמ״ן הפיץ מסמך שהציג את הפשיטה העילית כרעיון ראשוני ש״הפעלתו הכוללת אינה סבירה״.
ב-2019 חזר אמ״ן על הקביעה שהרעיון לא הוטמע בחמאס וש״הפעלה כוללת שלו אינה סבירה״.
ב-2021, מיד לאחר מבצע ״שומר חומות״, קבע המודיעין שהחמאס נכשל במהלך המבצע במאמצי הפשיטה שלו וש״הדבר הוביל לאובדן אמון (של החמאס) ביכולת הפשיטה״.
באותה עת ממש, כבר התקבל באמ״ן מידע ברור על קיומה של תוכנית ״חומת יריחו״, כולל תחילת אימונים למימושה, אלא שהמידע הזה לא הובא לידיעתו של ראש הממשלה, ואין חולק על כך.
בפברואר 2023 השב״כ קבע ש״החמאס ממשיך לסבול מהיעדר מענה מבצעי אפקטיבי למכשול הישראלי בגבול הרצועה… באופן שמפחית את היכולת שלו לממש פשיטה״.
ב-3 באוקטובר 2023, ארבעה ימים לפני ה-7 באוקטובר, קבע אמ״ן ש״מאז צוק איתן ושומר החומות לא יצר חמאס חלופה אמיתית לתת-קרקע״.
