Former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew once said that he learn't from the failure of Nigeria while building Singapore from a third world to a first world nation. Nigeria gained it's independence in 1960 while Singapore gained theirs in 1965. Our both countries where colonized by the British. He said that Nigeria lacked the will to be a nation. In his 1966 visit to Lagos, he observed that Nigeria's leaders were utilizing their positions for self-enrichment and private ventures rather than national advancement. For example, he recounted a conversation with Nigeria's Finance Minister at the time, who implemented protective import tariffs on shoes primarily so that he could retire and successfully run his own shoemaking factory. He learned from this that state resources were being heavily diverted to build personal wealth instead of establishing long-term, meritocratic, and productive institutions. He concluded that vast natural and human resources could not substitute for a cohesive national identity and honest, competent leadership. How i wish Nigeria can go back to basics and start fixing from there.

Unpopular opinion: Deno > Bun

@theo In other words, it’s more accurate to say I ported Bun to Rust for the compiler-assisted tooling to help us fix bugs than I moved away from Zig. It was never anti-Zig. Programming languages are now a mutable technical decision you can change in like a week.

I love yt-dlp, and frankly they can do what they want with their software, but it’s obvious they haven’t looked at the Bun code. It’s a competent port to Rust. And I think folks who say “I won’t use this simply because AI wrote it” are in the same vein as vibe coders who don’t read their code. They are blindly trusting AI, but for them they are trusting it to be bad code like vibe coders are trusting it to be good code.

@zeddotdev was such a drop-in VS Code replacement for me a year ago that I didn't even change the keybinding in Raycast lol Great work!

I think a lot of people are overreacting about Bun Rust rewrite I do understand the concern of vibe coding a million line and it’s good to be skeptical But as an engineer, I’ll need a concrete proof that something break before I make a strategic move

Docker Desktop is a very stupid app. Always crashing for no reason and would not restart until I restart the entire computer. Wtf.
