@BacchusAwakes @CharlemagneClub The migrant episode was short lived and happened after the failed colour revolution in Belarus in 2020, and it was the Americans who sanctioned and later blew up NordStream. The relation went downhill after the EU signed on to the Maidan revolution, which was the Americans' idea.

@BacchusAwakes @CharlemagneClub While Dugin & Co. are ideological, the Kremlin always struck me as pragmatic and seeking a cordial relation with the EU, though everyone including Putin soured on that after 2022. As for Navalny, his only political achievement was getting 27% of votes for mayor of Moscow in 2013.

@andyd10 Interestingly there is an almost perfect correlation between a lower ratio and low fertility. There's probably a big economic factor that brings the birth rate down rather than an anti-natal culture, as the low ratio regions suffered most from the post-1991 policies.
