The UK has normalised working full time and still being broke. You do everything right, you turn up, you put the work in, you work overtime, you stay consistent and somehow after rent, bills and food you’re still left with no money about 2 weeks after payday.

@THemingford Coffee shop waitress isn’t a job you do when you want to pay a mortgage and have kids. It’s a summer job for young kids. If you want to make it “cover the cost of living” then coffee (and everything else especially food) gets more expensive as with every minimum wage increase.

Green Party say they plan to ensure everyone has a minimum wage of £31,000pa. I run a business. I don’t earn that. I employ 2 people. They don’t earn that. The business I run doesn’t take in enough to pay that. I’d need to charge customers way more to afford that 🤷‍♂️. Or go bust.
