New legislation signed by Walz, which took effect January 1, allows Minnesota workers up to 12 weeks a year off with partial pay to care for a newborn or a sick family member, and up to 12 weeks to recover from their own serious illness. Benefits are capped at 20 weeks a year for employees who take advantage of both. One employer said requests for paid time off have ALREADY increased by 700%. Employers complain about workers using the time off to attend musical festivals and go on vacation. Fraud. Imagine that.

@GovTimWalz Removing Kristi Noem doesn’t fix the deeper problem. There still needs to be transparency, independent investigations into the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and real answers for the families and communities affected. Accountability and reform at DHS can’t wait.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone. But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
