Our satellite caught a celestial visitor! As #Comet C/2025 R3 (#PanSTARRS) passed by Earth during April 24–25, 2026, the Compact Coronagraph (#CCOR1) on @NOAA's #GOES19 satellite tracked its path. The comet was discovered last September by the Haleakalā Observatory in Hawaii.

Celebrating 36 years of discovery with the Hubble Space Telescope 🔭 Collected on April 23, 2026, by one of Vantor's WorldView Legion satellites, this remarkable non-Earth image showcases Hubble from just 61.8 km away—an incredible perspective of one of humanity’s most iconic scientific instruments. With a space sample distance of 4.0 cm, Hubble’s signature cylindrical body, gleaming thermal shielding, and extended solar arrays are clearly visible, along with the open aperture door at the front of the telescope. For over three decades, Hubble has expanded our understanding of the universe—delivering breathtaking imagery and groundbreaking science that continue to inspire. Proud to support the technologies and teams that make moments like this possible.

Earthshine. Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch captured this video of Earth outside the windows of the Orion spacecraft during the second flight day of the mission. Orion was roughly 33,800 miles (54,500 km) away from Earth when @Astro_Christina took this video.

Comet #PanSTARRS (C/2025 R3) rising in the dawn twilight on April 19, 2026. It was at its closest point to the Sun in its orbit (at perihelion) on this date. But it was so low from my latitude the comet was embedded in the twilight and difficult to see even with binoculars.

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

#OTD in 1970, the Apollo 13 crew got their first glimpse of the damage caused by the explosion that occurred 200,000 miles from Earth. The recent Artemis II mission helps us comprehend the gravity of the situation. Here's my photographic analysis of the damage:

Shine, dream, smile! Oh, let us light up the night… with a pair of new stars, and maybe some planets! Webb captured edge-on views of two protoplanetary disks, which will help us better understand the process of planet formation. esawebb.org/images/potm260…

Here’s a more extreme example of this. For Artemis II, I had to shoot considerably darker to capture detail in the plume since it’s so bright. It was much harder to bring back the details of the actual vehicle in this one, but I’m pleased with how it came out.

If you've ever wondered why most photographers shoot in RAW, this is why: The first is the RAW photo, straight out of the camera. The second is the final photo. RAW photos save much more data than other formats, making it easier to pull out details not visible in the original.

Our crew on the @Space_Station caught a glimpse of the @NASAArtemis II crew as they re-entered the atmosphere from their journey to the Moon! We first saw a bright light and a trail as the service module burned up. We didn’t see the Orion capsule itself as it re-entered, but we saw the wispy trail it left behind in the upper atmosphere. Overjoyed that our friends are safely back on Earth after their awe-inspiring mission!
