@DavidNdii People need jobs, not to loans or social housing. They are better than the government at allocating their own resources.

Oh and by the way Kenyatta National Hospital was put under Agency Notice by KRA juzi. They have not managed to remit PAYE and VAT obligations for the past few months. That means any shilling going into KNH bank accounts now belongs to KRA.

@DrBKhalwale The market sets prices, and you get to decide what you want to grow. No funny business messing with the market.

Day 6 on Malinya farm. The sudden drop of cane price to a low of Ksh 5,500/- will occasion me heavy losses. This's compounded by 1. Increased transport costs due to high Petroleum prices 2. Failure to constitute membership of the Kenya Sugar Board 3. Kenya has exited the COMESA sugar safeguard regime that was protecting Kenyan farmers from cheap sugar imports from COMESA member States. The economic advisors of President @WilliamsRuto must move with speed to institute control frameworks to maintain market stability

@Kibet_bull Honestly, I feel bad for Kasongo sometimes. People don't want to pay their taxes, and when they do, a lot of it just gets stolen. They expect services for their money, especially since they paid to get him elected. It's just a completely impossible situation.

The capitation under Uhuru Kenyatta was ksh 22,440, it has come down to ksh 188 under the regime of hustler. Worst president ever.

@AmbokoJH @DavidNdii Also use airtime and data consuption data, or electricity consuption data in the place of means testing. Very accurate.

@AmbokoJH To ensure the survival of SHA, abolish means testing and reinstate a flat rate of Ksh. 500 per household per month, payable in advance. Households should be permitted to borrow these amounts, similar to the Fuliza model. The free tier must be eliminated. @DavidNdii

@Kalasinga_ @iMuthoni_ If you really know your stuff, self-importing can be great. Just stick to referrals. First, sort out and agree on the quality, then the price. Otherwise, you'll think you're a negotiation wiz but end up with garbage.

@iMuthoni_ I can only self import (if the car is completely unavailable locally) but otherwise, I would rather buy like a cabbage in the soko. Lemme see the car, call my mechanic, thoroughly check the car and then negotiate price. I have seen self imports that also went sideways.

@FourthArchetype We don't really need a whole new science institute. It would be better to just fund research at places that already exist, or turn one of our current universities into a top-notch research hub that brings in smart people from all over the world.

Kenya now has a chartered Defence University, a National Intelligence and Research University, and a proposed Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Should we have a National Forensic Science University and a National Maritime Institute? Are we becoming too ambitious?

@cobbo3 @amenya_nelson Don't get it twisted. Dangote, just like Elon Musk, uses government power to build his personal fortune. That refinery in Tanga? It's gonna hand him the East African market for refined products and crude oil for his Nigerian refinery. It's a sweet deal for him, all around..

4/4: Dangote conquered the swamp, but he now faces cartels and forces protecting Nigeria’s status quo. His refinery must survive a political war against global middlemen and a domestic "oil mafia" profiting from imports. His ultimate challenge isn't engineering; it’s breaking an entrenched system that thrives on continental dependence.

@KKombani I seriously think you're way off base. When it comes to marketing, there's this thing called positioning. Price is a big part of that positioning, and both higher and lower prices can actually help you reach more people.

I am looking out for my readers. If they can get a better deal somewhere I'm all for it. Also a writer's job is not "to write nice books". An artist's job should be to call out inequality. If I don't speak out, who will? You, who is happy to pay more for the product?
The chemist@ataiRX

@KKombani @DennisShonko Your job is to write nice books mambo ya pricing ni ya wauzaji. Try to be on as many platforms as possible, that's it.

For years I've been complaining about your pricing for my books I can't tell you what to price your stock, but if you overprice my books don't tag me - I don't want to look like I am part of the rip off. This is not just for 'Dear Mama' - See email from 2024.

@DavidNdii Jayne & Rashid (2013) found fertilizer subsidy costs outweigh benefits, while Duflo et al. showed cash lets farmers decide what they actually need. As an example, a farmers may need fungicides for growing wheat on land on rotation from grazing.

@Briankariu Kenya's tax legislation outpaces its operational environment. The intricate nature of the tax code, coupled with the caliber of available accountants, the pervasive informal economy, and systemic corruption, presents a formidable challenge for any business.
