the honest reality is that organic social interaction has basically collapsed for a lot of society, especially in cities where paradoxically everyone is surrounded by ppl but nobody talks to each other. 50 years ago, you couldn't have predicted this at all.

People who integrate you into their lives and would know if something happens to you. Loneliness is feeling unseen.

This was the watershed moment that paved the way to Mamdani's victory last night.
The shifting of focus toward the actual needs of the American people rather than foreign govs such as Israel or Ukraine had already happened on the Right.
Mamdani was the first Democrat to have the guts to explicitly say that his priority was his constituents, not Israel.
It paid off for him - just as it has for many Republicans.
Many Democrats may not like the comparison, but Mamdani presented a Democratic version of "America first" (that is, without the chauvinism etc)

Honestly being on the ballot twice is probably strategically a negative because anyone who votes for him on multiple party lines will invalidate their ballots

Zohran is on the ballot twice bc he’s the nominee for both the Democrats and the Working Families Party. Cuomo lost the primary and non-major parties are never listed first. Musk continues to weaponize this platform to cast doubt on our electoral system and spread misinformation

@ClickingSeason An aunt aged friend auntie is different from a cousin your parents’ generation who is an aunt. The same way I call my cousins my generation brother/sister in India. Our extended family naming scheme doesn’t do Nth cousin Mth removed

There is a pretty distinct difference between calling an aunt-aged friend “auntie” and making a public speech that says “I have an aunt”

I’ve never really supported most of @ZohranKMamdani’s policies. But I know all of the main tenets of his campaign. Freeze the rent. Free buses. Community grocery stores. No cost childcare.
