Members of Congress are once again positioning themselves for a pay increase even though they have delivered nothing of substance for the people they claim to represent. The idea that they should be rewarded for years of gridlock, avoidance, and political theater is an insult to every citizen who actually works for a living.
Public service is supposed to mean service to the public. It is NOT a lifetime guarantee of comfort, privilege, or automatic financial reward. If lawmakers want higher pay, they should start by producing results that justify it. Until then, the answer is simple. No raise. Not now. Not after this record of inaction. Not while the country is still waiting for them to do the job they were elected to do.
The war will go on is right!

Yes, that person in the photo should be charged, just like many others. I don't disagree there were many violent assholes there. And you're sharing a photo that has nothing to do with the woman in the video, and is not representative of the entire group. I'm just saying that many also weren't violent, she appearing to be one of them by the evidence presented.
Look, I'm not here to change hearts and minds about Jan 6. It was a fucked situation all around. I'm just saying that this particular woman went through something horrible. She received a disproportionate response to her presence, whether it seemed warranted or not in the moment. Given the video evidence, she was not violent and should not have been beaten up like she was. All I'm saying is that she deserves the chance to share her side and have the chance to get some relief.
We are obviously set in our opinions. I respect that you have yours, but I'm keeping mine as well.

@atlienne8 @TexasBigSky @laralogan Yep this looks so peaceful.
Who would see this .. and say .. oh this is great, I’m clearly welcome in the capital.

English

Take a look at what happened to Victoria White on Jan 6 - an unarmed woman who had been beaten by men all her life was beaten senseless by multiple police officers at the same time, until the blood ran down her battered face. Tell me again how this was an insurrection. I will try contain my disgust.
Truth In Media@Truth_InMedia
This morning a woman most Americans have never heard of checked herself into prison to begin serving a sentence she should not have been given. Her name is Victoria Charity White, and what happened to her on January 6th showed that terrible crimes were committed that day against the American people.
English

But that's not how it started. Many of the people were peaceful and didn't know what was going to happen. Things turn on a dime, and suddenly you're in it.
There are so many people who were there, right up front, protecting law enforcement and trying to stave off violent crowds. It's just not as simple as what you're saying.
English

@atlienne8 @TexasBigSky @laralogan It’s pretty simple.
You don’t want to be accused or treated like you were part of a group attacking the capital.
- don’t be around people who are actively attacking the capital.
- seems pretty simple if you ask me.
English

I think the people who were violent and destructive absolutely deserved the consequences of their actions and don't deserve access to the funds recently announced. There is plenty of video all around to show who lands on which side.
However, she was caught in it. But was she a perpetrator? No. Does she deserve restitution after the fact? I believe she should at least be able to make her case, and I think she has a good one.
Even after all their training, I think it's easy for law enforcement to react to the situation and the knowledge of what's going on in that moment. I respect that. Hind sight is 20/20, but it doesn't mean that it was right what happened to her, and it doesn't mean she shouldn't pursue some relief.
English

@atlienne8 @TexasBigSky @laralogan I watched it .. she decided to join the unruly mob in the tunnel.
She could have chosen to stay away from the capital or go home but she didn’t.

Did they say anything about the large groups of Muslim individuals gathering to pray publicly to Allah? What about when Mamdani hosted a call to prayer?
I'm all for people praying and speaking to their God, in private as well as public, but it's the hypocrisy I can't stand. To lift one up while tearing the other down is disgusting.
The media sucks.
English

Thousands of Christians gathered on the National Mall to pray, worship and talk about America’s spiritual direction heading into the 250th anniversary of the country.
And within minutes much of the media framing became:
“Christian nationalism”
“dangerous”
“extremism”
“threat to democracy”
The cultural shift is worth noticing when what used to be considered completely normal is now a threat.

English

@TexasBigSky @laralogan You're obviously commenting without watching the video. Just like all the other ridiculous asshats out there. I'm not surprised.
English

@laralogan Someone should have told her trying to overthrow the Republic had consequences.
English

@BigBlueUnited HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's so funny. And SUPER DUPER hypocritical.
Thanks for starting my morning with a laugh.

@atlienne8 @EWErickson I've known hundreds of people who have lived in DC.. Not one of them have ever had their car stolen or been mugged.
But yeh, keep spouting MAGA delusions. That's all y'all seem able to do anyway.

@SenatorsOnICE @EWErickson You don't know anyone it happened to, so it must not happen to anyone. Got it.
English

@SenatorsOnICE @EWErickson Ha, I really could not care less if you believe me. I know it happened. My husband knows it happened. Hotel and police know it happened.
But good on you for getting your completely irrelevant point out there.

@Lesliecirca73 @paulsperry_ I agree that there's something there. She sacks. But that has nothing to do with this post.

@paulsperry_ Well now we know what Stacy Abram’s is using the billions for that Biden illegally gave her.

BREAKING: Georgia’s 2026 election results will be aggregated on Election Night by the secretary of state from a “secret emergency bunker” which is off-limits to candidates, the public and even to the State Election Board, which has requested access. The exact location of the bunker, somewhere in the metro Atlanta area, is undisclosed.
"The secret aggregation of election results is a clear violation of state election transparency law which requires all election officials to conduct all election activities in public," noted Garland Favorito, co-founder of election watchdog VoterGA.
State law specifically prohibits such secrecy, stating:
“Superintendents, poll officers, and other officials engaged in the conducting of primaries and elections held under this chapter shall perform their duties in public.” (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-406)
