My Dan Zanger deep dive is available for free, based on only free materials. Several people DMed me, offering access to Dan’s old newsletters, but I declined. Copyright issues aside, I really wanted to prove just how much you can learn from what’s freely available online. Individual sources are all linked in my write-up (tradingresourcehub.substack.com/p/nuances-behi…), but for convenience, here’s a list of the key resources I used. Dan’s own website, containing various written interviews (2000–2010) chartpattern.com/dan-media.cfm Written interview with the CMT Association (2009) cmtassociation.org/wp-content/upl… Probably Dan’s best interview, and certainly the highest WWR one (2005) Part 1: youtu.be/Y4D9IpKJMLo?si… Part 2: youtu.be/074nnUbDDXo?si… Very good longer spoken interview from 2016 youtu.be/cAllrfPyqNg?si… More recent spoken interviews on Spotify (2018 & 2020) 2018: open.spotify.com/episode/3HUsQ7… 2020: open.spotify.com/episode/0hvngo… A few live broadcasts Dan did, with this being the most interesting IMO (because you can feel just how much he’d improved at environmental awareness/trading less; from 2015) youtu.be/IsnbyyXVPQc?si… The ‘catch’ is that going through this stuff takes a LOT of time and effort. But that’s also a good thing. The *intentionality* this type of exercise requires is what makes a study method effective. Plus, an edge, by definition, involves doing things of value others can’t or won’t do. And when it comes to information in the public domain, the edge must come from what you do with it. As Dan said: you can lead someone to water, but you can’t make them drink.

Books every working professional should read at least once: 1. Deep Work by Cal Newport Makes the case that the ability to focus without distraction is the most valuable skill in the modern economy and almost nobody is deliberately building it. 2. The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker Written in 1967 and still more useful than most modern productivity books. Covers how to manage time, make decisions, and contribute at a high level. 3. Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss Negotiation tactics from a former FBI hostage negotiator. Works in salary conversations, client deals, and difficult internal discussions equally well. 4. Atomic Habits by James Clear The most practical guide to building systems that make good behavior automatic. Useful whether you are trying to write more, exercise, or stop checking your phone. 5. The Pyramid Principle by Barbara Minto A McKinsey consultant's framework for structuring communication. If you write reports, send proposals, or present to leadership, this book will change how you think. 6. So Good They Can't Ignore You by Cal Newport Argues that passion follows mastery, not the other way around. One of the most honest books about building a career that actually matters. 7. The First 90 Days by Michael Watkins Essential reading whenever you start a new role, get promoted, or take on a new team. Covers exactly how to build credibility before you have earned it. 8. Thinking in Systems by Donella Meadows Teaches you to see the feedback loops and structures behind every organization, market, and process. Changes how you diagnose problems permanently. 9. High Output Management by Andy Grove Written by Intel's former CEO. The most honest and practical book on management ever written. Required reading at most serious companies. 10. The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande A surgeon's argument for why checklists prevent catastrophic errors in complex fields. Applies directly to project management, operations, and team leadership. 11. Influence by Robert Cialdini Explains the six principles of persuasion that drive human behavior. Once you read it you cannot stop noticing them being used on you and around you. 12. Range by David Epstein Argues that generalists outperform specialists in complex, unpredictable fields. Reassuring and useful for anyone who has never had one single focus area. 13. The Manager's Path by Camille Fournier The clearest guide to career progression in tech from individual contributor to executive. Honest about what each level actually requires. 14. Essentialism by Greg McKeown The disciplined pursuit of less. Helps you identify the vital few things that matter and build the courage to eliminate everything else. 15. Shoe Dog by Phil Knight The founder of Nike telling the real story of building a company. Less about tactics and more about resilience, self-doubt, and what it actually takes.

An angry lady’s image shouting at a political leader and his party for having stopped the road has gone viral. That one woman has said what millions of us feel. Stop blocking roads for your political agendas. Stop blocking roads, temples, for VIPs. People have work, emergencies, lives. This entitlement has gone too far.
