This evening, extremely delighted to have had the opportunity to take part in Kamban Vizha 2026 in Colombo. The Ramayana remains an eternal source of wisdom, illuminating the path of dharma for generations. Through the Kamba Ramayanam, Poet Kamban had transformed this sacred epic into a work of unparalleled literary grace. Had the privilege of reflecting on the timeless truths of the Kamba Ramayanam before an august gathering of eminent Tamil scholars and dignitaries. Extending my heartfelt gratitude to Kambavarithi Ilangai Jeyaraj ayya for an evening enriched by the elegance of our Tamil language.

My biggest desire in politics is to see Annamalai become CM one day, and eventually PM. And this is not about BJP vs non-BJP for me. Even if tomorrow he starts his own party, my opinion wouldn’t change. He is one of the rare politicians today who is both deeply learned and highly capable of execution. Just hope and pray it happens while he’s still young and at his prime.

“No one as cunning and clever as SG”. Lol. The man might take that as a compliment. There’s actually a competitor: Rajdeep Sardesai. There’s much that is common between the two pundits behaviorally: both are duplicitous, mealy-mouthed, neither has any principle, but both wax eloquently on principles. The moral-shmoral argument is the chief arrow in their quiver. Sardesai is loudmouthed, and has this Delhi street-fighter vibe about him, so gets seen through his chicanery far more easily. OTOH Guptaji keeps some decorum. But you have to give it to them both: neither has brazenly turned a party hack. That cloak of neutrality is what keeps them current even in the digital age.

I consider myself a long-term critic of @ShekharGupta because of the huge admiration I have for him. My admiration for Shekhar comes from my firm belief that there is no one as cunning and as clever as SG. Truth be told, Shekhar has a legendary ability to say things he wants to say while hiding the reality, and yet make his readers believe his writing is the only gospel truth. That is what makes him most dangerous. He is the original propagandist who sits perfectly at the intersection of old style journalism and new age media. Infact, there is no better proof of that last assertion than his ability to bring dead leaders and others alive at will, but only after they are gone, to prove his point or build context. Today, it was the turn of late Balbir Punj. One of the finest our side has produced. Coming back to the quoted tweet and article; I'm forced to tweet my rejoinder after breaking my personal resolve to not counter folks anymore. Such effort entails writing long tweets or threads; something newbies and self-certified commentators do all day, often with AI doing the heavy lifting. But not just Lohia, even Ambedkar, in his 1951, while resigning from Nehru's Cabinet, said same thing on the floor of Parliament when he said: “The PM's whole time and attention is devoted to the protection of the Muslims… are SCs, STs and Indian Christians not in need of protection?" Yes this was the Constitution's architect in Parliament. Lohia did not stop at diagnosis but built the cure also when he joined hands with DDU for 4 Lok Sabha bypolls. Later Samyukta Vidhayak Dal govt in 9 states resulted from that as they worked to break the Congress monopoly that lived off the Hindu-Muslim binary.
