My timeline is full of academics saying Khamenei’s killing was illegal. I defer to their expertise. It seems International law protects tyrants and requires Iranians to live in the shadow of the noose. If so, maybe we can do without international law. spectator.com/article/intern…

I just checked, and the Tienanmen Square massacre killed about 2,000 people. Iran's government slaughtered 10-20 times that many of its own people in a week last month, it barely made the papers and still there are folk here crying for the regime. I do not get it.

I thought growth was your number one priority? At least what you and Starmer told us ad nauseam. Now it comes third. Is that because your growth plans (such as they were) are in tatters? Nor can you cut the cost of living. You might be able to slow down the rise. But you won’t cut it.
Rachel Reeves@RachelReevesMP

Cutting the cost of living is my number one priority, and thanks to the choices we have made we are driving inflation down. Our economic plan is the right one, cutting the cost of living, cutting national debt and creating the conditions for growth.

Labour was elected in July 2024 with an overriding promise to accelerate economic growth. We now now have its record for its first full calendar year, 2025: Q1: 0.7% Q2: 0.2% Q3: 0.1% Q4: 0.1% So, far from stimulating the economy, the dead hand of Starmer-Reeves has knocked the stuffing out of it. They took a good start to the year and squandered it with reckless tax, spend and borrow (none of which was in their manifesto). Our giant services sector — 2nd biggest in the world — is stagnating. Construction is in its worst state for over 4 years, with output down 2% in Q4 (which is why Labour’s promise of 1.5m new houses by 2029 is already broken). As for GDP per capita, which was very popular among X tweeters under the Tories but not so much now (I wonder why), it fell for the second quarter in a row — so we’re effectively in a GDP/capita recession.

The Ministry of Justice’s order to delete crucial court record archives is a direct assault on the principle of open justice. I know from my own battles to access court transcripts how challenging this already is. We cannot allow the Government to scrub the public record and hinder vital scrutiny of our legal system. Miscarriages of justice can take decades to resolve, deleting court reporting could endanger ongoing and future appeals. It is a disgrace. thetimes.com/uk/law/article…

I never said and never believed Khelif was trans. I knew* he was a man. The gender activists who created a political climate in which sex testing was seen as 'bigoted' are as culpable as the IOC for the travesty that ensued. *via a highly credible source who saw his test results

What faith I did have in British justice just evaporated like a drop of water hissing on a hot griddle. How can you ram raid a building equipped with weapons having fully intended to commit acts of serious violence, break a policewoman’s spine on camera, & get away with it?

Tony Blair and Gordon Brown started this, deliberately delegating powers to arm's length bodies and quangos The Constitutional Governance and Reform Act 2010, passed in the dying days of the Brown government removed the ability of ministers to hire and fire civil servants It has only got worse since Until power and accountability are restored to the government, nothing can improve

Deng Majek was such a clear cut deportation case. He travelled through Italy, Germany, and France before getting in his small boat. Before killing his hotel worker with a screwdriver. He could have been half the world away before that happened. But the Rwanda plan was scrapped.
Chris Philp MP@CPhilpOfficial

Given the timing of his illegal arrival, this man would have been eligible for deportation to Rwanda But Labour cancelled the plan and put him up in a hotel instead of deporting him Labour must now explain why they thought this was a good idea, given Majek went on to commit murder

@BLAIMGame THIS And it's getting worse... High energy prices are killing British industry, killing British jobs and killing the British economy And the result is higher emissions so we're not even "saving the planet"
