VIDEO | "There's a big possibility that Pakistan can stop playing cricket against India. If I had would have been in power then yes, I may have taken this strong step. I would not blame anyone on this, if you don't want to play then don't play against us. If I had been there then I would have taken this decision (of cutting cricketing ties with India), fought against the BCCI and then would have seen who is more powerful," former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif (@iRashidLatif68) tells @PTI_News in an exclusive interview. @scoutdesk We are in the era of cartelization in many sector including aviation and telecom. Its really worrisome if one has to travel because the trains dont work, never sure about the buses and then you are just left with overpriced flight tickets.

Rs 9,000 for a flight from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi. Booked 8 days before departure. I understand there's a lot of logistics involved in deciding a flight price but it's high time there's a max cap on prices. Domestic travel shouldn't be this expensive.

Blows my mind watching our young batters like Jaiswal & Gill. The talent & the ability they possess. Incredible! That shot by Gill, just now, going down the pitch to loft Southee for a straight six. Wow! 🤩

@Rehan_ulhaq I would love to see the data for Non Rcb and MI matches for last couple of seasons. My hunch is its down significantly. Lot of stadiums are going empty for afternoon matches as well. Unheard of maybe 7-8 years back.

Each format has different requirements, cricket is becoming an increasingly specialised sport. Test cricket is very different to ODI cricket, T20 cricket is even mode different. All format players are increasingly becoming lesser & lesser. Extremely important not to mix formats.

While I never did formally meet or speak with Mr. Ratan Tata, I do have two interesting anecdotes to relate from the sidelines so to speak. RNT was a long time Colaba resident like me and I used to see him often on my walks which took me through Navy Nagar onto US club. He was often at the US club with his dogs. This was 1993, I think a couple of days after JRD Tata had passed away. After my walk I was sprawled on the grass at the periphery of the club golf course and he was also sitting on the grass just a few metres away. As usual, I never thought of intruding on his personal time, or maybe I was just too shy. But someone else came along, introduced himself, condoled JRD's loss and said that he had only one question, "Which of your companies do you love the most, Mr Tata?" Mr Tata pointed to his dogs and said, "I love them the most. Nothing else comes close." The other time when our paths crossed (kind of) was towards the end of the 90s. At the time, while he headed the Tata group, the company he was most hands-on with was Tata Motors - still known mostly as Telco. At the time it was a commercial Vehicle (CV) company - the car division was just about to start. Commercial vehicles are a very cyclical business. The previous year had been a disaster for the CV industry and we, at First Global, wanted to estimate how the industry would fare in that particular year. We built a regression model looking at many macro indicators and then estimated sales for the industry and for Tata Motors. We estimated a volume growth of 25% ie that Tata Motors would sell 25% more vehicles that year. We put out the report and we got a call from Mr Ratan Tata's office saying that our projections were far too aggressive and they would not do more than 15% growth. They asked us to tone down our projections. We went back to the drawing board, looked at our whole process, rechecked the numbers and finally decided to stick to our 25% volume growth number. And yup they did achieve the 25% growth 😊 This became a favourite anecdote for me to recount when training analysts. Since I only ever hired freshers for research jobs, many of the youngsters would be very apprehensive about questioning the decisions of CEOs and CFOs who had spent decades in the business. This was an example I would give them to say that even the longest serving and the best are often too close to the action to step back and take a truly neutral perspective. That is where a fresh pair of eyes, joining the dots across the economy & industries as well as objective & rigorous analysis help. RIP Mr Tata🙏 #RatanTata

AIRPORTS ARE ROBBING US! 🚨 Yesterday, I took an Uber to Bengaluru Airport and I realized I paid 260/- to the airport.. also at the airport, I had the most expensive (80/-) samosa of my life, and my friend had a masala dosa for 600/- 😭 Why is no one talking about how airports are robbing us? & Why do we travellers have to suffer all the time?

We should get rid of ODIs absolutely doesnt make sense with just 10-12 teams. Make WT20s every four year event like the FIFA finals with 32 teams. WTC should have relegations and promotions with multiple tiers.
Ahad@abdulahadjawaid

The Cricket World Cup is the most prestigious trophy. WTC is merely a gimmick by the ICC to revive Test cricket, though it has been effective. The T20 World Cup will gain value if held every four years, while the Champions Trophy is irrelevant.

India not touring Pakistan is along the expected lines. But they should be straight with the reasoning - that India wants to isolate Pakistan for political reasons. Security of players can't be used as a reason. If security is good for Eng & Aus, it must be good for India too.
