That’s exactly the point. If it can’t be verified, then they should stop presenting 40,000 like it’s a fact. During the protests, people were constantly posting pictures and claiming this person or that person was killed. Some were real, some were completely fake. The obvious solution was simple: every time someone claimed a family member or friend was dead, they should have posted that person’s ID number with the claim. Then you build a list, and people can check it. If the ID isn’t on the list, you add it. If it’s fake, duplicated, or belongs to someone still alive, people can expose it. That would have made it much harder to lie. Instead, we saw plenty of fake claims. I personally saw cases where people claimed someone was dead and that person later came out on video saying they were alive. I even reverse-searched one photo myself that was being passed around as a dead protester, and it turned out to be a Turkish actress. So no, I’m not just going to accept 40,000 because someone said it loudly enough
