seeing doctors through one medical has mostly solved this problem for me. the $100/yr subscription is just enough of a barrier to entry that it keeps most of the riff raff out and the doctors there default to treating you like a sane, reasonably intelligent person
eigenrobot@eigenrobot

if i had to guess the real tragedy is that both are right and a large number of patients are just totally nuts AND a large number of doctors are awful and meanwhile many other doctors are losing their minds dealing with insane patients and normal ppl are getting screwed

a mindfulness prompt i'm finding useful: notice how much tension exists in different parts of my visual field, without trying to change the tension. when i'm on my computer, how much tension exists within the computer screen vs the visual spaces outside of the screen?

Someone told me recently I have a kind heart. I think it’s (mostly) true and the thought occurred to me that kind hearts are won. They’re made. Perhaps they start with a natural inclination but any inclination can be bent. A kind heart is chosen, again and again, forged in pain, cultivated in grief, triumphant in joy. It’s a choosing to be open in whatever comes, choosing the steadiness of being with the thing that’s present. Coming back when pulled away. A kind heart perseveres.

@chrislakin In my experience, fear of being perceived came from a fear of being attacked. Being perceived is a necessary prerequisite to being attacked, so avoiding being perceived altogether can be a coping mechanism to feel safe

Your trauma is likely stored within the parts of you that are clenched. Unclench wisely
helen ‽@nuanceexists

@chrislakin one time i unclenched something just 'cause i noticed it was clenched. then i spent two years straight processing a bunch of repressed memories, which, of course, i did not KNOW were behind a tiny tension in my belly

@tucker_peck I think parts work done well often results in your parts no longer feeling like distinct, solid parts. so the parts work, if you continue walking down the path, starts transforming into something different on its own x.com/awildjelly/sta…
wild jelly 🪼@awildjelly

My IFS parts used to be static and distinct. Recently, they’ve become fuzzier and are starting to flow like water. They used to be images and conceptual ideas, but then they entered my body and I feel them as energy flowing up and down my spine

I think doing too much parts work is worse than doing too little.

I feel I’m close to fixing my insomnia issues because I can almost always fall asleep at night listening to NSDR tapes, but the sleep is very bad quality every other night. I can’t keep taking benadryl. So please suggest weird stuff. I take 400mg l-theanine, 100 mg of caffeine before noon, have a regular bedtime/wakeup, exercise about daily.
