Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), today addressed the national workshop on school health and wellness being organised on World No Tobacco Day (31st May, 2025) at Rang Bhawan, Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi. During the workshop, Shri @sanjayjavin launched a ‘Nationwide Rally-Challenge on Tobacco Awareness’ and took a collective pledge against tobacco use. He urged teachers and parents to ensure that children are aware about the harmful impact of tobacco consumption. He highlighted the launch of ToFEI (Tobacco Free Educational Institution) guidelines by DoSEL in 2024, emphasising the need to prohibit tobacco use, sale and advertising on school premises and within a designated 100-yard radius. Shri Anandrao V. Patil, Additional Secretary, DoSEL; Ms. A. Srija, Economic Advisor, DoSEL; and Shri Rahul Singh, Chairman, @cbseindia29 participated in the event and shared their valuable insights into the school health vertical and emphasised the collective commitment towards student wellness, along with other esteemed dignitaries who graced the event. The workshop has brought together key stakeholders from Central Ministries, representatives from civil societies, States/ UTs and autonomous bodies to strengthen collaborative efforts in creating tobacco-free and health-promoting educational ecosystem.
