The infuriating thing is that @OctopusEnergy won't take responsibility for their own work. it is up to the customer to find another electrician, pay their callout just so they write a report to send back to @OctopusEnergy to come and fix their own error.

Dangerously bad service from @OctopusEnergy - installed a smart meter in our home. After they left we heard a sizzling noise as one of the contacts was arcing. Called customer service. Its apparantly "not an emergency". We have to get an electrician out to say it was their fault.

@OctopusEnergy Independent electrician came out. The installers wired our aircon into the 5th terminal which is meant for special tarriffs, which doesn't make sense for aircon. The arcing was caused by a wire that was a bit too short so the bend radius was too small - cut a cable tie to release

@iotwatch My mum told me that when she was a student at Goldsmiths in 1962/3 the dances were formal social dancing. At the start of each dance the men would approach the ladies and ask them to dance. My mum wasn't pretty, so usually wasn't asked, so didn't get to dance and had to watch.

That late 50s era of rock and roll was probably the last to have a form of couple dancing that was in opposition to the way their parents danced (ballroom/ceroc/social) and directly influenced by jazz (lindyhop/jitterbug).

Watching the BBC disco documentary and think someone should write about the end of partner dancing, dance classes in school, dancing as the main form of social interaction & entertainment outside one’s home/church. bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…

@TwickMuseum The Thames Wherry Trust members row a reproduction wherry called "Rose in June" from Richmond. I can attest she "shoots along lightly" even with some passengers.

Did you know that No 25 The Embankment was for many years home to families of #Watermen who rowed wherries? ‘wherries shoot along so lightly as to surprise everyone … They row like galley oarsmen, with extremely long oars, and are very dextrous at steering clear of each other’

Really sad to hear that Winter Lights curator and media arts champion, co-founder of Kinetica Art Fair, and all round good egg, Keith Watson passed away recently. Way too soon ☹️

The UK's new farm subsidy systems are the one genuine benefit of Brexit - and, bizarrely, the one that no major Leave politician would discuss before the vote. If the UK gets this right, they could be used as a template for reform across the EU, whose system is a totaI disaster.

In 1977, the BBC made a fly on the wall documentary about Faraday School in East Acton which opened in 1966. It was a rather moving portrayal of the children and their teachers. Anyone remember their time at the school? sesc.hist.cam.ac.uk/2017/12/08/bes…

@OldLondonW14 To be fair, all the secondary schools in the area had a reputation for violence (my mum knew - she taught at one). My parents managed to send me to private school on the Assisted Places Scheme. Saved me.

@OldLondonW14 I remember as a kid in the 70/80s, I was afraid to go near the school. I recently met somebody who was there - apparently the kids would line up in the playground - white kids on one side, black kids on the other and they would just charge at each other in a medieval style melee.
