@SamNewby_ @opencode Would be useful for a project I'm working on, need to show some stats etc. If it's not publishable yet that's fine, I'll experiment myself :)

The greatest way to end arguments or debates is by providing proof, so here is my proof that it costs less than half & is faster to get this specific part cast & finish machined vs CNC. Keep in mind that for ANY quantity more than 1, the contest isn't even close in terms of cost, material usage & speed. Investment casting especially today is incredible for manufacturing & the USA needs more & more of it! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Option 1: CNC by Sendcutsend. Cost? $675.38 & arrives 8NOV25-10NOV25. Option 2: Investment Casting by Connor Kapoor. Cost? $169.50 & arrives 6NOV2025-8NOV2025. We could even add in another $150 for doing the finish machining here & it still would be $319.50.

@scottpetrovic I tried it on a fairly simple model, and the weight painting was really problematic. It really needs a way to tweak or edit weights

@PovilasKorop You don't. You learn JS and don't look back. I was a PHP dev for a while, modern JS is better in every way imaginable

I think we, as Laravel/PHP community, have a problem. I don't see many new/young devs starting with Laravel. I also heard the same topic expressed by Taylor, Jeffrey, Nuno in podcasts. Question: what can I/we do to promote PHP/Laravel to outsiders? Let's brainstorm.

@oprydai That would cost a fortune... Industrial chique.... Could be a good look for high-end furniture... Those bolts need washers or something, because otherwise your going to tear up the powder-coating.

About Screen Studio’s $229 price: I deeply regret doing that. There was a lot of hate related to it and I mostly agree with it. I need to get this off my chest. I think I lost some of my reputation because of that. I also accept that. While it was never really a popular option (7%), I think it was very visible and easy to critique, which I understand and agree with. I was under some influence when introducing that, after plenty of conversations I had about our pricing: “Studio is too cheap dude.” But in the end, it is solely my decision and responsibility. We removed it yesterday. Screen Studio is now subscription-only (for new customers). For existing customers, nothing changed. They can still use it, they will still be able to renew their licenses. No one is forced to switch to subscriptions to get the latest updates. I felt it was too expensive, and everyone who had this license got an extra year of updates (2 years instead of 1 year) for free. Maybe this price could have been seen as a way to push people more toward subscriptions. I think part of me also looked at it like that, which I also regret. But looking at stats from the first day after removing it, I strongly doubt it. I mean I doubt it actually was doing that—I don’t doubt it being seen as trying to do that. I like one-time payments. If I have a choice when buying something, I usually pick it. But we are a team of 5, we are bootstrapped, we are not burning cash, we don’t have investors. It is healthy and safer for the business. It’s that simple. It is probably my problem, but I think that because of this I actually stopped writing posts. Maybe it was imposter syndrome, but after seeing all the criticism and hate, and often agreeing with it, I felt kind of paralyzed. I think I should have removed it much earlier.
