On Friday, July 19, 2024, near Rampura Police Station in Dhaka, residents of the Banasree area took to the streets to protest against the student killings. A clash ensued between the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), the police, and the general protesters. At one point, unable to withstand the continuous shooting from the BGB and police, several teenagers climbed a nearby under-construction four-story building. When the BGB and police regained control of the area, a few police officers entered the building. While everyone else managed to escape, one teenager got trapped. He tried to hide by climbing down the side of the fourth-floor roof. However, two police officers spotted him and fired six rounds from a revolver, ensuring the teenager's death before leaving. The video captures this very scene. What an egregious violation of human rights! This is the consequence of years of impunity. Bangladesh law enforcers do now even feel a need to hide their crimes, as the government turns a blind eye.

The Bangladeshi student community in #Pullman will be hosting a demonstration today at 1 p.m. outside the @wsu_cub. They will be creating a human chain of 25-30 students and plan to be there for around 45 min. They are standing in solidarity with college students that were killed in protests in Bangladesh. Can we deploy language models on embedded systems? Our findings on benchmarking language models for embedded systems, in collaboration with @karmake2 and led by @babor64, @SouvikaSarkar & @sibathasan7 recently accepted to @ICPEconf 2024!

We did extensive experiments to test the deployability of language models on embedded processors. We tested 4 off-the-shelf platforms with various memory configurations, both from x86 and ARM. We show that some models can execute well on embedded hardware even without GPU.
