I'm shocked, SHOCKED that AHPRA would impose conditions on a medical professional who repeatedly and prominently rejected the science of his own field, and leveraged his professional credentials to make wild claims that lacked an evidentiary foundation - placing his own philosophies behind established standards of patient care in ways that stood to stigmatize patients. Just shocking. Can't believe it. Who could have seen it coming. It'll be interesting to see if @JCU maintains him as a lecturer. They backed him before - actively publishing a press release promoting his views under their masthead - but I wonder if they'll determine they have a duty to suspend him now too?

In Jan, I told Rachel Baxendale her anti-trans article relied on an “expert” linked to the Australian Christian Lobby with serious credibility issues. She ignored it. Now that 'expert' has been suspended by Australia’s peak psychiatry body.

@SandraEckersley You aren’t. You got me. You just sound like you have preordained the outcome. Only opposite to his staunch defenders. But your superior equivocating skills have outdone me.

This blind defense of men like Ben Roberts-Smith and Bruce Lehrmann belies a bigger malaise. Hundreds of men who seek absolution for their own violent actions both in war and towards women. Deep down they KNOW they’ve done wrong. #auspol

@Peter_Fitz Where else would one go to get a representative sample of the thoughts of the average Australian voter other than the Sorrento Writers Festival?

I was at Sorrento Writers Festival on weekend, with a lot of heavy-hitting political types there from both sides of aisle. They entirely agree. The Libs pumping up One Nation's tyres only gives them credibility & makes them a more compelling alternative to. . .the Libs. #auspol
Craig Emerson@DrCraigEmerson

I’ve been involved in politics since 1983 including as an adviser to Bob Hawke and as a Labor Cabinet Minister. The Liberal Party trying to emulate One Nation is folly (and bad for our country). They are sacrificing their few remaining moderates. They cannot outdo One Nation.

I am disgusted by the crowd at the Perth dawn service treating a First Nations speaker the way they did. First Nations Australians bled for this country in two World Wars.

@melaniedoak It’s peak Australia and the comments show why we are here. There’s a rule, enforce it. Forget the empty pick up area. It must not be used by a guy in a wheelchair at any cost as he lacks a permit.

NIMBYs invent spurious reasons for opposing housing because their real reasons are unattractive. Specifically, they want to further increase the multi-million dollar capital gains they have made. They don't like newcomers. A shadow in their backyard is insufferable. etc etc

Professor Alan Gamlen has called out the media’s nonsense hysteria over “Mass Migration", exposing their cherry picked migration data, & how they conveniently omit departure data in their reporting. ‘The headlines are just simply not true.’💥 #auspol

Every author in the country should be alarmed at the absurd overreach by Dymocks here. They've removed childrens books that have nothing to do with any of this, on the basis of a blog by the illustrator. It's completely ridiculous. Meanwhile, they still stock pedophile Cardinal George Pell's books, and books by Zionists like Howard Jacobson whose vile racism, and dismissal of the mass murder of Palestinian children has been platformed in the Guardian, on national TV, and in the New Yorker.

@peter_tulip It’s not a misunderstanding. It’s the knowledge that economic modelling and reading entrails have a similar scientific approach and reliability.

I have seen very many explanations and justifications of these arguments. But no rebuttal. (Unless you count "don't believe economists"). So why is the misunderstanding so widespread? And what can be done about it? 5/5

300 angry NIMBYs protested about new housing in Canada Bay last night. Especially annoying was the frequency with which speakers, from both the stage and floor, said “These new apartments won’t improve affordability. They will sell for over $2 million.” 1/5

The Australia Institute made $10,057,883 last year and paid NO TAX while demanding others pay more. A simple 10% tax on all NGOs would raise $22 billion annually for schools, hospitals and public services. It's time they put their money where their mouth is.

@AdrianJack9239 @MikeCarlton01 Depends whose paying for it, I guess. Taxpayer vs private funds. Having said that I am happy for the government to pursue war crimes investigations just as I am happy if Lehrmann and Reynolds wish to privately finance their own court cases. What is the issue?

@MikeCarlton01 Funny how the RWNJs moaning about the $300M allegedly spent in pursuit of Big Ben don't worry about the millions spent dealing with Brucey's vexatious appeals, nor the millions paid to Linda Reynolds for being an awful boss, and for alleged damage to a self-trashed reputation.
