DO NOT use Telegram in sensitive applications. Telegram does not need to have its message encryption broken for users to be tracked at the network layer. Telegram sends MTProto over unencrypted TCP, exposing auth_key_id - a long-lived identifier tied to the client’s authorisation key. An ISP, hotel WiFi operator, mobile carrier, transit provider, or surveillance system on the network path can see that identifier if they can observe the traffic. It can remain stable across app restarts, IP changes, VPN use, network switches, and location changes. Secret Chats protect message content, but this leak is below that layer. That makes the attack passive. The risk is in retroactive correlation. Think a journalist using Telegram from different networks for months, then joining hotel or corporate WiFi under a real name. That one identity anchor could make old logs searchable for the same auth_key_id. The fix is simple - mandatory transport encryption for all MTProto connections, with no unencrypted fallback. Telegram chose not to do this. Source: @kaepora symbolic.software/pdf/gnmx-01.pdf

If you want to age your sys admins 30 years overnight, remember that Active Directory is fully unicode compatible, so you can rename your laptop with emojis it its hostname, and it will reflect like that in AD ping desktop-🤷‍♂️👍👌.mycompany.local

🦔Microsoft canceled its internal Claude Code licenses this week after token-based billing made the cost untenable, even for a company with effectively infinite cloud resources. Uber's CTO sent an internal memo warning the company burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in just four months. American AI software prices have jumped 20% to 37%, and GitHub (owned by Microsoft) is dropping flat-rate plans for usage-based billing across its products. My Take The AI subsidy era is ending in real time. The same company that put $13 billion into OpenAI and built the Azure infrastructure powering most of Anthropic's compute just looked at the bill from a competitor's coding tool and decided it was not worth paying. That is not a productivity failure on Anthropic's end. Token-based pricing is forcing every enterprise customer to confront the actual cost of running these models at scale, and the number turns out to be far higher than the flat-rate experiments suggested. This ties directly to my Gemini Flash post yesterday. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google all raised effective prices in the last six months. Enterprises that built workflows assuming AI costs would keep falling are now watching annual budgets evaporate in months. Two outcomes look likely from here. Either enterprises scale back AI usage to fit budgets, which slows the revenue ramp the labs need to justify their valuations ahead of IPOs, or the labs cut prices and absorb the losses, which makes the unit economics worse at exactly the wrong moment. Both paths land in the same place, the numbers stop working, and somebody has to take the writedown. Hedgie🤗

Hi @LinkedIn. I wrote a story for the BBC about Chinese influence in Ireland. It’s here: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… I posted it to LinkedIn. You took it down, citing ‘nonconsensual intimate  imagery.’ Can please explain to us why you did this, and how?

One understated reality of what Trump has done: He basically just nuked his Senate majority for the next six months. Rs have a 53-47 hold on the Senate. - Sen. Tillis is retiring and already acting like an independent. - Sen. Cassidy now has no reason to play ball. - Sens. Murkowski and Collins have long been willing to break with POTUS. - Sen. Cornyn will have to navigate the runoff, but win or lose next Tuesday he comes out of that doing whatever he wants. All the sudden, a 53-47 Senate majority is a 48-47 majority with five live swing votes.
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.@SenBillCassidy

People are concerned about paying their mortgage or rent, affording groceries and paying for gas, not about putting together a $1.8 billion fund for the President and his allies to pay whomever they wish with no legal precedent or accountability. This is adding to our national debt. If there needs to be a settlement, the administration should bring it to Congress to decide.

Chinese Backdoor for Telecom Systems A while ago we showed the backdoor that the Chinese have been using to maintain persistence across telecom systems. The backdoor attaches itself to a raw network socket and inspects incoming traffic. It sees packets before firewall rules have a chance to process them. So even if your firewall is configured correctly, the backdoor can still see traffic that should have been blocked. To access the system hackers send a magic byte to get a reverse shell We also showed how you can detect it hackers-arise.com/compromising-t… @three_cube @_aircorridor #apt #redteam #blueteam

I kept his name secret at the time but @donttrythis has finally published his video, and again I am enormously impressed by the work he put into this because he doesn't just 3D print parts, he tries to match the process we know from the documentation youtube.com/watch?v=V1Y4UR…

At @OpenSauceLive a high profile maker mentioned making a copy of the carrying case used for Plutonium pits. But we got interrupted before I could tell him my favorite piece of trivia about this item: The designer Phillip Morrison is the Narrator of 'Powers of 10' the iconic short film about scale in the physical universe.

Ukrainian troops tested launching the Ukrainian-American Hornet kamikaze drone from a balloon. The aerostat carried the drone 42 km and released it from 8 km altitude, while the UAV used only 5% of its battery. The method extends range by combining balloon distance, high-altitude release and battery preservation, potentially pushing strike reach 1.5 to 2 times beyond the current 100 to 150 km. #Ukraine
