It’s not like these critical infrastructure sites were not on everyone’s radar, but the cat’s out the bag. Ambiguity evaporated. Everyone’s on five day notice. There’s no subtle difference between known high-value sites and the public menu the IRGC just published. It’s night and day. Every shop including Centcom, GCC agencies, and major security researchers like CSIS and Rand have had these sites flagged for years. UAE’s Barakah nuclear is perhaps the newest in that it came online fully in 2024, but certainly Kuwait’s Al-Zour and UAE’s Al Taweelah desalination plants, the Saudi’s Ras Al-Khair and Al-Shuaiba, Bahrain’s Al Hidd and Al Dawr stations, and Qatar’s Umm Al Houl and Ras Girta and the rest were always on the shortlist for Iranian retaliation at the upper rung. Notable on the list are Jordan’s Aqaba Thermal Power Plant and Al-Samra Power Generation Station, the country’s largest gas-fired plant which generates around 40 percent of national electricity in some phases. However the IRGC’s imprimatur to drop this graphic deck right after Trump’s power plant threat, published by Fars, Mizan, and every other IRGC mouthpiece, evaporates any fog of war, and along with it strategic ambiguity. Now that retaliation is not a nebulous list of plants and critical infrastructure sites, defenders have a five day window to surge layered defenses to these points. The IRGC’s deterrence signaling delivered a free target package to defend and hard documentation to put on decision makers desks. The upshot is a strong message to fence sitters and market stakeholders on a coalition response to Iranian aggression. Everyone is on notice as to how far the IRGC is willing to go here. There’s no room for academic policy debates. When Rubio and State’s Amb to Nato holds consultations, this graphic deck trump’s restraintist arguments. It’s time to step up to the plate. In the 16th century, the Venetian lawyer Odorico Pillone owned an extensive library, amassed on his family estate near Venice. In the 1580s, he decided to further enhance his collection by decorating sections of pages with various artistic illustrations, books at that time were often simply kept on shelves. The Italian graphic designer and painter Cesare Vecellio (1521–1601), a cousin of Titian, was chosen as the artist. In total, he illustrated 172 volumes. The themes of the illustrations were related to the content of the books themselves (which was convenient, as it made it easy to find a specific topic). According to Pillone, the painted pages transformed the library into a unique art gallery.

JUST IN 🔴 The IDF says it has taken out around 330 of Iran’s estimated 470 ballistic missile launchers. More than half were destroyed in direct strikes, while others were rendered inoperable after the Israeli Air Force hit tunnel entrances to underground storage sites. The IAF is now hunting the remaining roughly 140 launchers, as incoming fire has dropped to about 10 missiles a day, down from roughly 90 on day 1.
