They need to make some heavy revisions to this bill still before I'd be happy with it. Requiring full refunds when you close doors is absolutely fucking ridiculous, especially when it affects monetization schemes like Elder Scrolls Online or Helldivers 2 which are pay once for access. The current wording of the bill also would make remastering games that have been shuttered before (IE: darksouls prepare to die edition -> darksouls remastered) no longer possible.
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

The Stop Killing Games movement has officially backed the proposed California bill focused on protecting players when online games are shut down. > Publishers must provide an offline mode or a way to keep the game playable after server shutdown. > If this is not possible, players should receive a full refund. > The goal is to protect digital ownership and game preservation. This proposal follows growing concerns over games becoming completely inaccessible once support ends, especially after shutdowns like The Crew. Most gamers think that if players pay for a game, it should remain playable or be fairly compensated.

Sorry, you're right, I misread the code. You're not batching, you are however, pipelining completely differently and handling the data entirely differently. Your rust code pipelines 16k by default and is pipelined by default. #L32" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/clockworklabs/… It looks like the typescript code, unless explicitly specified does not. #L171" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/clockworklabs/… And if you do specify it, it's only pipelining 8 unless you also specify that to match. That's still wildly, ridiculously, horrendously not apples to apples. I think spacetimedb is interesting, and I love rust. You guys need to fix these benchmarks though. That's ridiculously unfair comparison wise.

@dok2001 @HacktronAI Cloudflare put the safety of the US federal government in jeopardy for a PR campaign of vibe coded infrastructure. Competition aside, truly a new low in probably all of a tech history.

Cloudflare built a Next.js replacement in a week with vibe-coding. We vibe-hacked and found numerous vulnerabilities, multiple critical and high severity. On Cloudflare Workers, one of the bugs leaks one user's session to another by default. hacktron.ai/blog/hacking-c…

Took longer than I thought for them to actually get punished considering how poorly they've attempted to hide that several of the MD staff and the owner made NC together lol

We’ve identified industrial-scale distillation attacks on our models by DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax. These labs created over 24,000 fraudulent accounts and generated over 16 million exchanges with Claude, extracting its capabilities to train and improve their own models.

@LukasHozda It really is insane how hard the engineering talent has fallen off when it comes to twitter. Genuinely cannot believe how bad it has gotten to where simply adding a new css variable takes up too much "capacity".

@IceSolst I think my absolute maximum in a day was 1.5k and that was starting a new project with very detailed plans, so I was essentially implementing an already existing spec.

Btw avg software engineer ships 10-50 LoC/day. A junior with falsely inflated self-confidence might ship 200 shitty lines. You have to be an absolute dumbass disconnected from any figment of reality to claim your goal is 15k/day. It’s a misleading and toxic claim. 15k/day CVEs.

I mean, nothing will ever be as nice as owning a fully drm free epub yes. I have my own tool I wrote for stripping the drm for that exact reason. Anyways, I think this more than anything is being given a shitty deck of cards and having to pick the least awful option. The Japanese government itself is on a taxpayer funded anti-piracy campaign and has been pressuring publishers and distributors to adopt stricter and more aggressive forms of copy protection. You can see this with Viz media for example who was forced to publish that absolutely idiotic antipiracy video full of series that aren't even available in the west in any capacity.

Re: Zero News by Ice
Re: Zero News by Ice@rezero_ice·
If you know how it works, then you should know you do not fully own the book the same way you own a clear epub.🤷‍♂️ And most certainly "Do whatever you want with it" is not true at all. What if I want to edit some of the text in the xhtml files and persist it? I don't think LCP compatible readers support that. As for removing its DRM, you might want to check how the people at EDRLabs tried to manipulate Terence Eden after he posted his blog regarding dumping via Thorium's Electron debug flags. And he didn't even vie for anything like interacting with the provided API (in a black box binary might I add). (shkspr.mobi/blog/2025/03/t…) But if you're having to remove the DRM to gain ownership, then you're further just proving my point. I think you're making the assumption that I'm not also versed with LCP here. Even with you already backtracking a bunch in your response; You've added a lot of "buts" now to your statements, including conceding readers can absolutely listen for revocations (and device limits, to add). Also why should I have to use an LCP compatible reader when I want to just use Calibre?

Update coming this February!! We are breaking down the walled garden with LCP DRM. Our philosophy is simple: You buy it, you own the right to read it, with or without us. Use our app or any LCP-compatible reader. Your choice! 🔓
