This is happening in Jacksonville, Florida at a 55+ community. A 28-year-old girl was living there with her father who was ill when he passed. He gave the home to his daughter, and she wants to remain living in the community.. well the HOA has decided to enforce the 55 and over law, and is asking for $1000 from 155 members in the community to sue her to get her out of the neighborhood because she’s 28 years old, not 55+. In my opinion, this is despicable. These HOA‘s have way too much power. This sh!t has to stop.

PROPERTY TAXES IN AMERICA HAVE GONE TOO FAR. My parents paid off their house in 2005. They are in their 70s. They still write a $11,000 check to the county every single year just to keep living in it. That makes no sense. At some point owning a home should actually mean owning it. This kind of burden is rare outside the U.S.

@UziCryptoo Property taxes are very common in the Western industrialized world. They are the norm. Why shouldn’t seniors have to pay for local services like the rest of us? Our system already takes (a lot) from the young to provide for the old (SS/Medicare).

I paid $300 toward my federal student loans. Balance before: $58,807 Balance now: $58,745 That’s only $62 off the principal. The minimum payment is $0, yet $238 of my payment vanished into interest. If you hear people complaining about student loans, this is why. We’re being robbed in broad daylight.

Our Immigrant Rights Protection Task Force has found a rise in scams and fraud targeting immigrant Marylanders and increased barriers when it comes to protecting their rights as workers, consumers, tenants, and victims of crime. Every Marylander deserves to have their rights protected – full stop. When rights are protected, bad actors are stopped from distorting consumer, labor, and housing markets in a way that hurts working families, and victims of crime are able to safely report crimes, helping to hold criminals accountable and make all of our communities safer. Over the next few months, this task force will keep talking with communities across the state to better understand the obstacles immigrant residents face. Those conversations will help shape next steps, including helping people understand their rights, making sure agencies are working together, and pointing people to the right resources.
