Yes, predestination to Heaven is both biblical and Church teaching. However, we reject the Calvinist notion of “double predestination” in which God predestines some people to Hell: “God predestines no one to go to hell; for this, a willful turning away from God (a mortal sin) is necessary, and persistence in it until the end. In the Eucharistic liturgy and in the daily prayers of her faithful, the Church implores the mercy of God, who does not want ‘any to perish, but all to come to repentance’ (2 Peter 3:9).” (CCC 1037)

Does anyone have translations of John of St. Thomas on predestination (q.23) or on the will of God (q.19)? I want to translate them because i haven't been able to find any translations but I want to make sure before I do since they're pretty long

Today, 703 years ago, July 18, 1323, the Angelic Doctor St. Thomas Aquinas was canonized by Pope John XXII in Avignon, France. Today, he remains the greatest Doctor of the Church, theologian, and philosopher we have ever been graced to have. Ora pro nobis.

Gonet explains: "punishment, or eternal damnation, is not the end of the rational creature, which predestination must regard." So they think it's symmetrical
