Akun dan cuitan seperti ini yang memalukan nama Bangsa dan Negara Indonesia. Kebijakan geopolitik disamakan dengan tindakan premanisme. Sentimen ultranasionalis merupakan racun dan karat thdp asas kebangsaan.

Menlu Simgapore ogah bayar tol hormus sama Iran demi prinsip blah blah. Aslinya : takut negara lain niru Iran. Negara lain itu RI. Bayangkan kalau RI kenakan biaya tol Selat Malaka, hancur ekonomi Spore. RI bakal cuan banyak. Tol Hormus ilhami hadirnya tol Malaka :)

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan announced earlier today the signing of a Joint Strategic Defense Agreement, committing to areas of cooperation in defense and security as well as a mutual defense clause in which an attack against one country would be seen as an attack against both countries, likely setting off major alarm bells in both India and Iran.

5. This underscores a profound irony: nations that once positioned themselves as exemplars of civilized and democratic values, and dictating the Global South on the imperative of adhering to international law, now exemplify how to break it for strategic advantage.

New from @NavalWarCollege! @ChinaMaritime Studies Institute Translation #16: “Tracking Their Wake: How Strong Is the @USNavy Today?” digital-commons.usnwc.edu/cmsi-translati… Click here for complete summaries, links & curated content from #CMSI’s previous 15 translations: bit.ly/CMSI_Translati… Director @ChrisHSharman explains: The ongoing PLA show of force around #Taiwan is grabbing the headlines with @MoNDefense reporting at least 21 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan as of 1 April. Perhaps this is a reminder of the investments the PRC has made in its own shipbuilding industry. However, what do PRC analysts think about the capacity of the U.S. shipbuilding industry? Shipbuilding is certainly a hot topic in Washington. Apparently, Beijing is also keenly interested in the ability of U.S. shipbuilding to support U.S. Navy requirements. At least one PRC industry insider openly denigrates the U.S. shipbuilding industry. The author’s vibrato is downright condescending. You will want to read his perspectives about how U.S. shipbuilding cannot keep up with United States Navy requirements what implications this has for the future of the United States Navy. Why should you read this translation? The vast majority of articles that appear in official & semi-official PRC journals are often far more deferential to the United States Navy – this article, however, is markedly different. Is this article a harbinger of a shift in the way PRC authors evaluate the capabilities & quality of the United States Navy? The author of this article is critical of the service life extension programs of various USN ships & submarines as well as the age of the USN Fleet. He ticks through criticisms of each ship class. Aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, ballistic missile & fast attack submarines are each addressed separately. In places, the author seems to skew data or details in order to substantiate his argument. Why publish such a biased perspective? Here are some quotes from this piece to whet your appetite: — “Although the U.S. Navy is still the world’s #1 navy in numerical terms, its power has already declined a lot.” — “These problems indicate that the U.S. Navy is in a state of exhaustion & will find it difficult to handle all manner of potential confrontations & war in the 21st century.” — “At the current time, America’s shipbuilding industry is already seriously withered & it continues to spiral downward.” — “It can be seen that the U.S. Navy’s land-attack firepower has been seriously weakened.” — “The flight of high-level technicians has left America’s new generation of technicians without teachers & ‘mentorship,’ & essential shipbuilding knowhow has not been passed along. American technicians, as a result, are less capable & competitive.” This CMSI Translation is pulled from the pages of the PRC journal, Shipborne Weapons. This journal is published by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Zhengzhou Electromechanical Institute, a PRC government entity involved in China’s Naval shipbuilding industry. The author writes under a pseudonym. CMSI’s own Professor @Ian_M_Easton translated this important piece. The article’s length was a huge investment of time. His expertise & meticulous translation make this article worth your time. Our thanks to Professor Easton for this excellent translation.

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia. Its exports to us are $28 billion. $17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is the tariff rate Indonesia charges us. What extraordinary nonsense this is.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

It's also important to understand that the tariff rates that foreign countries are supposedly charging us are just made-up numbers. South Korea, with which we have a trade agreement, is not charging a 50% tariff on U.S. exports. Nor is the EU charging a 39% tariff.

I argue that without a clear strategic foresight, such acquisition will be a burden to the military's coffer, and risk be interpreted negatively by our neighbours.

Fascinated with these maps of Singapore and Malaysia of a bygone era, which I found at the former Bukit Timah Railway Station. The latter shows the old rail lines of Singapore that once connected the city-state with KL. Sad to think how this has become a relic of the past.

Contributed a review of Powell and Wiegand's "The Peaceful Resolution of Territorial and Maritime Disputes" for @ISEAS's Contemporary Southeast Asia. A compelling read, highlighting how states seek peaceful resolution, and why the Philippines deserved their 2016 PCA award.
