This is disastrous. First of all, we've already caught a bunch of AI hallucinations in legal proceedings and guess who caught the hallucinations? Humans. Humans who review carefully. Any tool that enables judges to pay *less* attention to the humans in front of them is bad.

There has been an alarming development in our legal system. Judges are starting to contract with a private corporation started by an ex-Palantir employee--whose bio says he is also a former speechwriter for Israel's UN ambassador--to have **secretive proprietary AI help decide cases for them.**

Completely off topic but maybe we should frame it as U.S war or even Trump war (ok, it can be confused by the other Trump wars...) and not Iran war. As proxy battles become more and more prominent, I don't see the value behind naming wars based on geography.

A few thoughts on how Turkiye is reacting to the Iran war. Shortly with great trepidation. No love lost for the regime, yet Ankara does not believe in the regime change scenario. It is concerned that a too heavy and sustained focus on regime change = years of instability.

It worries me that supposedly clever, markets guys normalise Trump’s behavior - & distributing a $3.5k tax refund cheque to US households will make everything fine about a slide to autocracy, white supremacy, trampling on the constitution & the end of the rule of law.

This old penalty conversion % map from @PenaltyKickStat (from taker's perspective) is a good guide. Put it high and the keeper has no chance. Put it low and he's struggling. Put it about one-third up and it's getting close to 50:50. It's a stock phrase for a reason: it's bang on.

(a) about one-third up IS a nice height for a goalkeeper, which is obvious from both watching football and proven by data, & (b) well no, they'd say something like "great cross", as someone has put it at the right height (rather than the wrong height)

Never understood why commentators have always agreed on the bullshit phrase "nice height for the goalkeeper". Ball coming at you at 70mph! They never denigrate a great headed goal as "a nice height for the forward".

Turkiye - talking to business and shopkeepers in Istanbul they are really feeling the impact of Simsek’s tax compliance drive using tech/AI. Great for the budget - which should see a sub-3.5% of GDP deficit this year. Business not too happy though!
