🇱🇧 Remember the deranged Hezbollah spokesperson who threatened yesterday on Live TV to overthrow the Lebanese Government ? I called for his arrest, but most politicians are too scared to act Well, PM candidate Fouad Makhzoumi seems to be one of the very few voices calling for the army to take action Where is everyone else? Other leaders? The Commander of the Army? “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

A message to the Lebanese military, arrest this scumbag, and ANYONE else who tries to plunge the country into a civil war This is the Head of Hezbollah Political Council, and he just threatened to overthrow Lebanon’s Government I have a feeling he no longer represents Hezbollah. The group is becoming fragmented and lost

I did a quick scroll of the Lebanese foreign minister’s recent posts, and I see no condemnation or even acknowledgement of Israel’s criminal attacks on Lebanon. It’s so strange. If I didn’t know any better, I would come away thinking it is Iran that’s bombing Lebanon.

What message is Iran sending to our region when moderation is met with aggression? The most dangerous aspect of these attacks is that they target countries that have pursued nothing but good-neighborly relations.

🇱🇧Mahmoud Qomati, head of Hezbollah's Political Council, compared Lebanon's government to Vichy France and warned they would "deal with the traitors on the inside" after the war. "We've been patient, but there's a limit to everything." Within hours, Iranian-linked hackers attacked MTV Lebanon, the Ministry of Information, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Lebanese Forces website, and their radio station. Hezbollah lawyers opened treason cases against journalists. Lebanon's leadership condemned the remarks but the three presidents haven't spoken yet. At what point does this stop being rhetoric and start being treated as what it actually is: a direct threat to overthrow a sovereign government? Because if this doesn't warrant a response from Lebanon's leadership, what does?

Iran, using Hezbollah, has dragged Lebanon into a war we did not choose. However, our government remains determined to pull Lebanon out of Iran’s grip. There is an urgent need to support the Lebanese Army and armed forces, enabling them to fulfill their role in maintaining security and stability, and extending state authority across all Lebanese territory.

@AnaKasparian @IamSean90 the decisions of war and peace are to be determined by the state and elected officials not by a foreign proxy militia especially in a diverse country like lebanon. and that’s exactly what happened.

Everyone knows Israel is (and literally has been for decades) attempting to annex land in Lebanon. Hezbollah was born out of Israel’s invasion in the 80s. First order of business is to protect boarders and sovereignty. You think it’s better for a genocidal invader to come and take land. If guess we have different priorities.

This is so brainrotted it's embarrassing. Having a foreign backed standing army larger than yours & not under your control is devastating for the stability of Lebanon & makes foreign investment nearly impossible. It makes 0 sense to join up with them now

breakups seems endlessly traumatic, just as you start to feel better, a shift happens and your new normal starts to feel wrong again and empty. getting engaged or married is the biggest risk you will ever take. choose wisely it's gonna ruin you if it doesn't work out

On Hezbollah and the self-fulfilling prophecies of following the worst strategic paths possible.
Hassan Jawad@PolitVulpes

@levantophile If Hezb keeps it's weapons and we have to deal with consistent Israeli attempts to dismantle or harm their potential we would be much more vulnerable to what you mention by virtue of the resulting internal instability, isolation, and the relative continuous decline of statehood.

analysts will say iran is in a war for survival, that’s why they will win. but the same logic can apply to trump who has vastly more resources. if he doesn’t come out of this with a clear win, him, his movement, his party, and his legacy are done. even so outcome is uncertain
