Bitcoin isn’t protest money. It’s protocol. When I first got into Bitcoin, I wore the activist badge proudly. Fight the system. Opt out. Orange pill everyone. But over time, something changed. Working at Blockstream, building infrastructure, talking to institutions: I stopped seeing Bitcoin as protest. And started seeing it as protocol. A base layer. A quiet set of rules that doesn’t care if you’re angry, optimistic, or apolitical. Protest money fights. Protocol survives. That shift matters. Because protest asks people to change their beliefs. Protocol invites them to change their defaults. You don’t need to believe in Bitcoin to use it. You don’t need to agree with the ethos to benefit from the math. Bitcoin doesn’t scream. It just runs. And when the rest of the world breaks, it quietly keeps going. If we want adoption, we should stop selling the revolution. And start showing the upgrade.
