Iraq is the only country in the region that is being hit by both sides. The North is being hits by PMF forces , south and West of the country is being hit by Israel of the US ! Ironic situation!

Many of the Christians living in Ainkawa originally come from Mosul. They fled the city when ISIS took control of it. I saw one woman whose house had been hit by a shell saying that she plans to return to her home in Mosul because she now feels safer there

The many Christians in Erbil live in a neighborhood called Ainkawa, which is located very close to the American base near Erbil Airport. In recent days, shells, drones, and intercepted rockets have fallen on Ainkawa, causing damage to homes and resulting in civilian casualties. .

The tragic irony of living in Iraq is that nowhere is truly safe. What once felt secure can quickly become dangerous. In such circumstances, protecting civilians is not just important—it is a moral and humanitarian obligation. @CivCenter

I hope that, once the current conflict subside, a new chapter can begin—one defined by peace, stability, and mutual respect.

Iraqis have suffered immensely from having this regime as a neighbor. The eight-year Iran–Iraq War was one of the most devastating conflicts of the modern era, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths and up to around one million total casualties on both sides.

This class will broaden your perspective and transform the way you think about many subjects. It will challenge your assumptions, deepen your understanding, and encourage you to see issues from new insightful angles. I am so honored to have participated and still do every year.

@SaraWahedi What is the purpose for the blackout ? Is it for security reasons or has to do with their Shariaa law and imposing their ideas of Islam ?

I’ve been tracking internet disruptions in Afghanistan: the Taliban shifted from full blackouts in 3 provinces to curfew-style cuts (12am–10am) for a week. They’re testing how to phase out recreational internet. 2026 may mark the end of unrestricted mobile use in Afghanistan.

My aunt told me about a relative deported from Iran to Herat this month with her young daughters. She believed the Taliban school ban were just rumours. Now, she’s adamant she will return to Iran after winter. Willing to risk arrest so her daughters can keep studying.
