a very basic privacy tip - use something like @ProtonMail - create a dozen or so email aliases - use a different email for any new account signups - manage them via 1pass it's not perfect but it does reduce blast radius when some site data gets leaked

Ami goes home: US-Präsident Donald Trump hat den Teilabzug der amerikanischen Truppen aus Deutschland angeordnet. Rund 5.000 Männer und Frauen sollen in den nächsten sechs bis zwölf Monaten verlegt werden. Der offizielle Grund: Die USA „überprüfen“ ihre Truppenpräsenz in Europa im Hinblick auf Einsatzprioritäten. Der inoffizielle Grund: Trump ist massiv verärgert, nachdem Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz (CDU) und der deutsche Außenminister Johann Wadephul (CDU) den Krieg der USA gegen den Iran wiederholt scharf kritisiert haben und Merz dem Hauptverbündeten Deutschlands zuletzt während einer öffentlichen Schulveranstaltung eine „Demütigung“ durch das Mullah-Regime in Teheran bescheinigt hatte. Für die USA ist sie die zentrale Luftdrehscheibe für Europa und den Nahen Osten. Zudem befindet sich das größte US-Militärkrankenhaus im Ausland im rheinland-pfälzischen Landstuhl. US-Soldaten, die bei Auslandseinsätzen verwundet werden, müssen also nicht den weiten Weg in die USA geflogen werden. Der größte US-Truppenübungsplatz außerhalb der USA ist Grafenwöhr in der Oberpfalz. Der Standort ist für mehr als eine Milliarde Euro modernisiert worden. In Stuttgart befinden sich die Hauptquartiere des Europa-Kommandos (Eucom) und des Afrika-Kommandos (Africom) der US-Streitkräfte, in Wiesbaden die Zentrale des US-Heeres in Europa. Welche Bedeutung haben die Stützpunkte für die Wirtschaft vor Ort? Mehr als die Hälfte der US-Truppen sind in Rheinland-Pfalz stationiert, knapp 12.000 in Bayern, rund 3.000 in Baden-Württemberg und etwa 2.500 in Hessen. Die Standorte sind ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor für die betroffenen Regionen. Insgesamt beschäftigt die US-Armee rund 12.000 zivile deutsche Arbeitnehmer. Für die regionale Wirtschaft, insbesondere den Einzelhandel, sind die US-Soldaten ein wichtiges Standbein. Beispiel Ramstein in der Pfalz: „Die Wirtschaftskraft der US-Militärpräsenz lässt sich pro Fiskaljahr auf mehr als zwei Milliarden US-Dollar beziffern“, sagt Ralf Hechler (CDU), Bürgermeister der Gemeinde Ramstein nahe dem riesigen US-Stützpunkt. Was bedeutet ein US-Teilabzug für Deutschlands Sicherheit? Das lässt sich noch nicht einschätzen. Unklar ist, welche Truppenteile aus Deutschland abgezogen werden sollen. Ein wichtiger Aspekt ist sicherlich das Moment der Abschreckung: Die physische Präsenz ihrer Soldaten signalisiert eine automatische Einbindung der USA im Verteidigungsfall (Art. 5 NATO-Vertrag) und schreckt potenzielle Gegner ab. Es gibt aber auch das Gegenargument, Deutschland werde durch die US-Präsenz erst zur „Zielscheibe“. Denn: Seit Juli 2024 ist die Stationierung von US-Präzisionswaffen mit größerer Reichweite in Deutschland geplant, angeblich um Sicherheitslücken in Europa zu schließen. Russland sieht das mit Sorge. Ist Trumps Ankündigung wirklich das letzte Wort? Schwer zu sagen. Denkbar wäre, dass der US-Präsident die Ankündigung – wie so oft in anderen Fällen – nur als Druckmittel einsetzt und dann wieder einlenkt. Es gibt zudem gesetzliche Hürden. Der US-Kongress hat einen Sicherheitsmechanismus beschlossen. Die Gesamtzahl der Streitkräfte, die dauerhaft im Zuständigkeitsbereich des Europa-Kommandos sind, darf demnach nicht länger als 45 Tage unter 76 000 liegen. Nach aktuellem Stand würden die USA diese Mindestanzahl zwar nicht unterschreiten, aber Trump hat einen Teilabzug auch aus Italien und Spanien angedroht.
