@Sacro @KernowQ @LiamFox Correct. I meant falling as a proportion of total exports, the point being that the EU is becoming less important to us as an export destination and that was the case well before Brexit.

Here are the trade facts👇 The EU has become a smaller proportion of UK exports as the rest of the global economy has grown faster. Rejoining is a metropolitan liberal fetish not supported by the facts. Although, given how useless this Labour government is, it is no surprise some cabinet ministers would rather be governed by Brussels.

@KernowQ @LiamFox You don't understand the graph, do you? Exports to the EU have been falling steadily since 2006 - well before Brexit. The EU is becoming less important to us as an export destination. Trade with the EU was not the reason we left, and it's certainly not a reason to rejoin.

@LiamFox Gosh! UK makes it more difficult to trade with EU so trade goes down. That is the EFFECT of idiot brexit.

Two weeks ago, polls showed 4/5 of Labour’s 2024 vote - and an even higher proportion of party members - want to rejoin the EU. This debate was only ever going to go one way. observer.co.uk/news/opinion-a…

@AntonSpisak Correct. It wasn't about Europe, it was about the EU. Don't equate them. The 'system' we were dissatisfied with was one where we ceded sovereignty and control to foreign powers. We knew what we were voting for.

Ten years too late, we might realise that the Brexit referendum wasn’t really about Europe, but about the dissatisfaction of a large swathe of voters with the state of the country and ‘the system’. The tragedy is that an entire British political class used that disenchantment for its own political ends. They promised voters one thing, delivered another, and never took responsibility for any of it.
Fraser Nelson@FraserNelson

A decade on, Brexit is still shaping UK politics. The data shows a clear trend: the higher the Brexit vote in 2016 the more likely a big Reform UK vote now. My column:- times-comment.com/elections

@BBCPolitics The threat posed by the far right is insignificant compared to Islamism. Mentioning the far right just dilutes the response to Islamism because it won't be specifically targeted. It's cowardice.

@BBCPolitics Why does @RhunapIorwerth have to mention 'Islamophobia' when he's asked about the antisemitic attack on Jews? The antisemitism on the left and their refusal to recognise the threat from Islamism warps their entire world view.

@jk_rowling It's alarming and depressing in equal measure that this thicko is responsible for legislating. There are plenty more like her in the Commons and we've got them for another 3 years. God help us.

When you stop and think about it, assisted dying's a bit like salted caramel ice cream or shuffle dancing, because they're choices, too. Or Lynx Africa body spray - use it, don't use it, nobody else's business.
Genevieve Holl-Allen@genevieve_holl

Kim Leadbeater MP has just likened the legalisation of assisted dying to legalising gay marriage On Sky News: 'It is a choice, it's a bit like gay marriage isn't it? Marry who you want to marry, love who you want to love. It's nothing to do with anybody else'

I do wonder if anyone on the left will ever realise that driving millions of people (including billionaires) who used to vote for you away with lunatic policies and then implying they're bad people for not voting for you is not a winning strategy? Most tech oligarchs were compliant little wokeists or at best silent and complicit objectors until very recently. Same with many in business. As it was in the UK where wealthy people were standing in line to give money and support to Tony Blair and Peter Mandelson. If you don't want media platforms to be owned by wealthy people who support your opponents, don't complain - give them someone better to vote for!

Trump’s billionaire allies will now control: CNN, Fox News, CBS, WaPo, WSJ and NY Post — plus 450 local TV stations, including news, in 95% of U.S. markets. X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, TikTok, Truth and Twitch. Plus Gemini, ChatGPT and Grok. They’ll make sure Trump’s lies are legitimized and the truth is always questioned.

@BBCPolitics .@hzeffman destroyed @jamesmurray_ldn 's (and by extension, Starmer's) argument. The govt is saying Robbins followed the correct process but was sacked for not deviating from it. Sounds like a good basis for a claim of unfair dismissal to me.

@CamillaTominey Fair play to @TomHayesBmouth. In a very crowded field, from the smorgasbord of uselessness that entered Parliament as Labour MPs in 2024, he's the most objectionable, arselicking, arrogant bellend of the lot.

Truly desperate stuff 🤦‍♀️ -I was asking you about the PM, not Tice -Tice tax claims are the subject of legal action -I asked Jenrick about Tice anyway -Anyone who has ever seen me interview Tice knows I’m far from a snowflake -The definition of a snowflake is a serving MP who posts this sort of hatstand and then switches off replies.
Tom Hayes MP@TomHayesBmouth

I enjoyed her cancelling me for bringing up Tice’s tax affairs after answering her questions directly. The best thing was her defence of Tice and insistence that she was a journalist. What a snowflake! ❄️ What a carcrash interviewer, just letting good GB News viewers down 🤯

@DanielJHannan You ignore the problems caused by Islam in this country: terrorism, hate marches, the Batley schoolteacher, the Wakefield koran schoolboy and many others. Many Muslims don't show the tolerance to other religions and customs that you advocate. We should not indulge them.
