@mhergon @azamsharp This is my vote unless it gets more complex, then would do loading/loaded/error enum (there are issues w this, but that’s what I do currently)

Which technique will you use to show the value of count when available else show loading message? * You are not allowed wrap the Text in any other view. * If you have better solution then write in comments. #SwiftUI

@azamsharp @mhergon Is the .task inherent to this Text, or just a proxy for network request? I’m not sure I want sub views making requests

@azamsharp @duolingo I think it’s an old school free trial: free, no strings attached, no follow-up subs. It just ends.

Anyone knows how to cancel this free trial? ⁦@duolingo⁩ is making it impossible to cancel it or providing any information related to it.

@_MikeSchmitz Yeah, output is super important (otherwise, what’s the point) - was just curious as to writing in Obsidian vs a tool just for writing.

@bcbroom TL;DR - I believe output is a very important part of PKM, so generally a fan. Depends on the tool, but Obsidian is a great writing app (do all my writing there). Basis for this is another framework called The Creativity Flywheel, I’ll share more of my thoughts on that shortly 😊

There's a very common pitfall many people fall into in their search for the perfect PKM app: They try to make it do too much. I've even stumbled into this myself with Obsidian. Here's how to avoid this deadly PKM trap 👇🏼🧵

@JoannisOrlandos I’m curious about server swift, but haven’t looked seriously yet. What is the deployment story like?

Swift on the Server is amazing, but we can definitely improve it even more! What are your takes on improving the ecosystem?

@peterfriese Recent project frequently had project file conflicts that were sometimes hard to untangle. Folders looks like it fixes that? I will miss custom order, but maybe can adjust with prefix numbers?

@saronyitbarek I used to never ask questions, because I was afraid people would think I was dumb. After kids, I realized I cared what my spouse and kids thought, but didn’t care what others thought. Now it’s a strength.

@NickZhu9 @VSCodeJava Does the walkthrough or tutorials cover creating a new command line type project? I remember that part being confusing. I’m somewhat familiar with Java, but not Gradle.

@saronyitbarek One key for us was to make sure to have time outside of what we called “air traffic controller” conversations (kids, job, appointments, calendar). We aren’t ’dress up’ people, so that wasn’t important.

Curious to hear your take on date night when you both WFR. Hubby and I occasionally get lunch and frequently go on walks together, but can't remember the last time we got dressed up and went on a proper date. I see him all day long that I just don't feel like I need all that?

@SwiftOnSecurity The “miles until empty” has a history effect. When we tow a trailer (huge MPG cut) the mileage estimate is off almost the whole next tank.

Something that bothers me a lot mentally is what algorithm cars use to calculate MPG. Do they all do it the same internally? Differences in implementation? Distance side do they calculate every revolution, or use an intermediary value? How precise is fuel, how does that work?

@d_feldman This is what’s most frustrating to me. ACA *was* the compromise plan between Dems and GOP. It was modeled after a similar plan Romney spearheaded in Massachusetts (at least to some degree).

Hey friends, for those employed as software developers/engineers, how many of you came from non-CS backgrounds, and what was your previous career? I'm gathering this info to help encourage those who are moving into tech from other fields. I'll start - I was a data analyst!

@v_pradeilles Random question - how would having the default be {} (ie, empty closure) change things? Then closure could be non-optional. Does that change it back to non-escaping?

@thedevme QA, UX design, build system, CI/CD, devops, and then dev categories - frontend/UI, backend/system, library/sdk dev are all different buckets.

If I wanted to point a person new to iOS to a list of different jobs they could do in iOS and macOS. Where would you send them? Other than gaming I’m not really sure what all of the options are.

@saronyitbarek I think there is a phase where you have extra capacity (time, energy, etc) where you can (and maybe should) say yes to most things. As that tightens up, have to say “is this more important/valuable/rewarding than my current commitments” - since I may need to drop something.

I generally say yes to most opportunities and that's served me well -- opened me up to new gigs, more money, connections, etc. So when is "no" the better strategy? Is there a "yes" phase in your career that transitions to "no" once you've reached a certain point?

@v_pradeilles I’ve done two career changes, and came to iOS dev from being a high school teacher. Hard to give advice, but I think I’d say - build stuff. Architecture and code style won’t make sense until you’ve done things a few times.
