@_6signxxx Sales might be the most shit-on and misunderstood job out there. "Moving numbers around" LOL just kindergarten levels of understanding what goes into those jobs.
English

people say "women are not paid less, they just pick empathy careers." ok.!!! but who decided nursing and teaching are worth less? like we will pay a sales guy 150k to move numbers around, but pay a nurse pennies to literally keep people alive, or give a teacher crumbs and wonder why future generations are failing every test. it is not that empathy based work is less valuable it is that we’ve normalized underpaying it because it’s "women’s work."

@Softykjr At this point let’s just grab 3 random guys from Tacoma to sub in for Cal, Julio and Naylor. I’d bet they’d at least scrape a few hits together

Sure would be nice to watch some #Mariners runners actually run through first base with any amount of effort. You can’t even get a hit yet you’re apparently too cool to run to the bag with some intensity as well. Real winning formula there guys

Looks like Julio cared more about Team Dominican Republic than he cares to even put up AAA level at bats for the #Mariners

@ccmembersonly They definitely already have where I live. Manager is a mexican and half the stylists speak Spanish throughout the entire shift. Can't even properly explain how you want it cut most of the time.

@mynameisFACE think i got kicked out of class like 3 different times for laughing too hard at this shit
English

@BradRTorgersen Yes this has and always will be the case for people whose whole career and means of satisfaction is dependent on how other people view them. Comedians, actors, any entertainment screen presence, they are all like this. The only unit of value to them is popularity.

Okay, so here's what I've thought about Joe Rogan for almost four years. Rogan doesn't have fixed principles. He has takes, and he has vibe. I would argue he is the crown prince of takes and vibe.
Rogan is the coolest kid in class. And he will change his mind on issues (and people) whenever it suits him.
If he thinks it's cool to be seen talking to you one year, he will do it. But if suddenly it's (later) cool to be shitting on you? He'll also do it. Cool kid is as cool kid does.
Joe's weather vane is forever aimed in the direction of what he perceives to be "cool" and there isn't a heap of ethical discernment happening. Again, just takes and vibe.

@Joe_Fann What’s the point of having challenges if you don’t use them

@Michaeldudufudu The simple truth behind this is that they would be afraid of lethal retaliation from Muslims if they did that, whereas they know they have nothing like that to fear from Christians. Any other explanation is pure dishonest cope.

@owroot Is there a good list that recommends 10-20 of his books to start with? Or are all of them equally recommendable?

My dad read so many Louis L'Amour books when we were kids. He just cranked through them. I don't think he ever owned any. He would get them at the library. Check out a couple, rip through them on the beach in the summer with pipe in hand, and then take them back and get a few more. He did that over and over again until there were no more to read.
It's funny the things about our parents and our childhoods that stick with us. Often it's not consequential stuff, but the small little obscure details that come to be the memories. When I think of my dad, when I was a kid, I remember Louis L'Amour books.

@DefiantLs I love how the first half of this is clearly for the lib newspaper headlines to gobble up and the 2nd half of this is clearly to protect his own ass from the potential ramifications of speaking about federal agents in this way. Total two-faced coward

Is the 40 acres of parking lot in the room with us right now?

urbanist slop hq@SlopHq
every baseball stadium built after 1990 is surrounded by forty acres of parking lot that sits empty 280 days a year and we call this "economic development." wrigley is in a neighborhood. fenway is in a neighborhood. the sport was better when the stadiums were to

@BackwardsFeet I'm thinking about starting it with my daughter. I haven't read it. I purchased the first 4 books. Is the 5th one essential to the story or is it skippable?

@anishmoonka It’s been pretty clear for awhile now that Hollywood is a major arm of the big dollar money launderers of the world

Warner Bros. spent $1.2 billion to make all eight Harry Potter films. The new TV series reportedly costs $100 million per episode, which would make it the most expensive TV show ever produced. Amazon’s Rings of Power cost $58 million per episode. House of the Dragon, $20 million. Game of Thrones started at $6 million.
HBO has planned seven seasons, one for each book, eight episodes per season. That’s 56 episodes. If the per-episode budget holds, the total production cost lands around $5.6 billion. Nearly 5x what all eight original films cost to make, and roughly three-quarters of what the entire franchise has earned at the box office ($7.7 billion) across 25 years.
Three weeks ago, Paramount Skydance signed a deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $31 per share, valuing the company at $110 billion including debt. Netflix was bidding too but walked away in late February. Harry Potter sits next to Game of Thrones and the DC Universe as one of the most valuable assets in that deal.
WBD has about 132 million Max subscribers today and is projecting 150 million by December. The original films returned almost 7x their production budget at the box office. Generating that kind of return through monthly streaming subscriptions requires a completely different scale of audience, sustained over a decade.
They’re reportedly building a “mini city” in the UK specifically for filming, with a price tag around $1.3 billion. A school is being constructed on-site for the child actors. Hans Zimmer is scoring the series. Over 30,000 kids auditioned for three roles.
The average Harry Potter film cost $144 million to produce. A single episode of the new series reportedly costs $100 million. Warner Bros. is betting over $5 billion that a streaming franchise can match what a theatrical one did.

@MiddleearthMixr Yes experience has shown me that acting your height more often than not just makes people more anxious and shy around you, even someplace like the gym where you'd think that wouldn't be the case.

This is going to sound silly to some but as a 6’4 man who has struggled so deeply with wanting to be liked over the course of my life when I was younger I would shrink or shrug to appear smaller or come off “chill” to other people as to not give an impression that I’m a big jerk.
I felt this line deep.
