"A gas export tax will push gas prices down in Australia . . . and end the farcical situation where Australians were told that they had a ‘gas shortage’ while simultaneously being one of the world's largest gas exporters.” – Richard Denniss Read more ➡️ theaus.in/4uZThYX

We're mad because the movie version of THE ODYSSEY which we haven't seen, doesn't match the vision of the book we never read.

Editorial: Instead of using this energy crisis to rapidly electrify this country, the Albanese government has announced a six-week fire sale on offshore resources. The stupidity of it is staggering. satpa.pe/xt0WqhS

Shell, whose Australian CEO couldn't tell me what their revenue was or how much 🇦🇺 gas they export during a senate inquiry, make huge $ by exporting gas through Singapore. Of course gas companies + countries like Singapore don't want us to get a fair return for our gas - they're making a killing out of it. But why do the major parties want this to continue? It's time to get a fair return for our gas exports. abc.net.au/news/2026-05-1… Go to ourgas.com.au and write to your MP to call on them to support a 25% tax on gas exports.

So if they're using Aliens to distract us from the Epstein Files, is this technically Alien vs. Predator? 🤔

Last month, the NSW Government slashed gas exploration licence fees from $50,000 to $1,000. Now, some everyday expenses cost more than what a multinational pays to explore for Australian gas. Ridiculous, right? ✍ Sign to back a 25% gas export tax: theaus.in/3P2odIE

@BeauJUshay It's absolutely the risk. CBA felt it when they had to rehire call centre staff. I don't think it should prevent businesses carefully and thoughtfully adopting AI, though.

This feels a bit dystopian, but nevertheless, it's the current reality, particularly for software companies. Maybe it doesn't last... or maybe it accelerates... but it's what's happening now, at WiseTech:

Today is International Day of the Midwife. I'll forever be grateful for the kindness, dignity and support shown by the midwives at the Women's and Children's Hospital. The warm and compassionate care they provided my wife and our girls, particularly our little twins who needed extra care and attention in their early weeks, was incredible.

Ahead of next week’s budget, the Prime Minister has said he won't implement a 25% export tax on existing gas contracts. Meanwhile, gas export companies are reaping billions from Australian resources while paying little or no tax. ✍ Sign the petition: theaus.in/4w9kt8X

Even if the oil and gas tax structure was well-designed (it's not), here's the key fault: Australia only gets paid for *our* resources, if the company makes a profit. If it doesn't, we've given the oil and gas away *free*? In what sane world does that make sense?
