🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️ Domestic abuse rises by 38% when England loses a match, and by 26% when they win or draw, according to research by Lancaster University. We’re thinking of everyone tonight. If you’re experiencing abuse, call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247

@shadows_control @BABS5683 Please reach out to your local domestic abuse support service/charity - many run group recovery programmes either online or face to face, focusing on DA education including coercive control and cognitive dissonance and trauma recovery. You are not alone, help is out there. xx

Yes, we lose so much of ourselves in an abusive relationship. By the time I left, I actually had to sift through all my beliefs, likes and dislikes and try to discern which ones were his and which were my own. I couldn't even tell the difference! So for me, it was about first getting to know myself again and being comfortable in my own skin. Then, I gradually started reconnecting with old friends and making a conscious effort to open up to people more (the ones I trusted) and share more of myself as I had become very shut down. I made a decision to be 100% authentic, just unapologetically myself, no more trying to put on a front for the sake of others. I was surprised that by doing that the social connections and rebuilding of trust came a lot more naturally. But I am still a 'work in progress' 🙂

Controlling abusers always aim to isolate their partner from family and friends so that their life will revolve entirely around them and their needs. But they don’t always do this overtly. Sometimes, they behave so badly or in such an embarrassing way that it is the victim that chooses to withdraw from social occasions just to avoid the humiliation or tension. My abusive husband would deliberately raise subjects around my family and friends that he knew would provoke a reaction or argument – Covid rules, LGBT rights, politics, vaccines, gun laws, anything he could think of that would get a rise out of the other person. It became so unpleasant that I used to dread any social event with him around. 😩 I used to ask him if he could try to be more sensitive to others’ views, but this only made him more determined to do the opposite. I always carried this knot of tension in my gut when we were around others – What was he going to do this time? Who was he going to upset or offend? Declining social occasions was the more peaceful option and that suited him just fine! #coercivecontrol #emotionalabuse

Labour will get my vote for this policy alone - I know so many young people who have had their performing careers devastated by Brexit and this government. Thankyou @ThangamMP

This is the 3rd time I’m retweeting this but another thought; this puffed up little Lord is addressing someone who arrived on the Kindertransport - his response is vile at every possible level, including its insensitivity towards & disrespect for Lord Dubs, who is visibly shaken.
Every Child Protected Against Trafficking 🧡@ECPATUK

Asked by @AlfDubs about disgraceful actions of @ukhomeoffice to remove cartoons from Kent reception as they are 'too welcoming for children', Minister says: 'It is the correct decision these facilities have the requisite decoration befitting their purpose' 📢Shameful cruelty

When healthcare professionals assess skin moles or coloured lesions on the skin for cancer, we often use the ABCDE criteria It’s something you can do at home also if you’re worried about any of your moles Hope it’s useful x

Absolutely this. Also, don't think you've said the wrong thing just because I might cry. Crying isn't the worst thing that can happen, it's just that emotions leak out of my eyes sometimes. I know it's a bit embarrassing but it only lasts a moment. I just miss her such a lot.💔
