@bencera Ironically , @polsia does not really embody that, it's highly opinionated - concepts like cold emails and tweeting are first class citizens. Obviously thats the place to start, but any plans to change this?

Once you free your mind about the concept of a company and what it means to build a company "the right way", you can do whatever you want. So nobody told me what to build and there was no preconception of what to build.

@swyx @polsia @latentspacepod Does he share the revenue of those businesses? It's not in his dashboard. If his revenue is mostly people testing, but not able to generate revenue themselves, sustainability could be an issue.

Spoke to @Jason and @alex about how taxes on unrealized gains has lead to an entrepreneurial exodus from Norway. Also took a look at real onchain adoption with our new @Dune Index 📈
This Week in Startups@twistartups

Norway’s Wealth Tax and the Founder Exodus @Jason, @alex and @Dune CEO Fredrik Haga discuss how Norway’s wealth tax on unrealized gains is forcing many founders to leave the country, as the policy creates overwhelming financial burdens for startups. • The Tax Burden: Norway's wealth tax forces founders to pay on paper wealth, often requiring them to sell shares just to afford the tax—leading to significant dilution over time. • Exit Tax: A new 37.84% tax on unrealized capital gains for those leaving the country creates even more pressure for entrepreneurs to relocate before building their companies. • Global Implications: Policies like these have driven top talent to places like the U.S. and Singapore, raising questions about the balance between taxation and innovation. The takeaway? Tax policy matters—not just for revenue, but for retaining talent and fostering entrepreneurship.

@alz_zyd_ Would you say the same about Adam Smith? Doesn’t read that different, they also had very similar analysis.

Marx didn't really do anything remotely approaching science, he wrote something which probably best approximates a work of science fiction; but a pretty compelling work of science fiction

The key tenets of Marxism are very intuitive to most people? Class conflict Capital has more power than labour Value comes from work Is that really so strange? Adam smith believed in much of this. Methodological individualism Subjective value theory Invisible hand These things are not common sense.

I never understood why, even on the supply side, this would be more efficient? Worse yet, no hypothetical reason is even provided when people explain the model. Here is one unflattering hypothesis: token buyers will overpay for tokens compared to institutional investors in equity, so you get a bigger budget. Doesn’t really make sense either, but at least it’s a story.

seeing a lot of depin hype, but also, a lot of shallow-ish thinking around it imo, if it works, the depin opportunity is largely a business model innovation — instead of having capex spend come from a company funded by debt/equity, you outsource the spend to individuals/small outfits and subsidize the spend with cheap capital via token rewards but that's the supply-side part of the depin model, which is the easy part to focus on. the more important part is the demand-side: how much revenue/profit can the network make at scale, and when is all said and done, is there enough ROI from the distributed capex investment? would love to see more rigorous thinking about this demand/economic side of the depin story

Dear friends and supporters of @wearetalisman Today, after over three years of working on Talisman the leadership at the project is changing. Going forward, it will be run by two amazing leaders: @warplizard - Head of Engineering, and; @nobyte77 - Head of Product. Warp is a brilliant architect and engineer, as well as a wise and diplomatic leader. Nobyte is a razor-sharp executive with an extensive background ranging from UX design to electrical engineering for her own hardware startups. With a combined tenure of over four years at Talisman, and the trust and respect of the wider team, they are the perfect leaders to replace me. Make sure you give them a follow! Why is this happening? Simply put, I burned out - I have heard many people talk about “burnout” but never took it particularly seriously. I have always had a strong aversion to clinical labels like these, fearing their potential to be an unconscious impairment. However, this label accurately reflects my experience, which in the last few months became extremely acute. I no longer feel it is best for me to be leading Talisman, as my ability to be optimistic, rational, and consistent has become impaired. Thus, I am giving the reins to people with fresh perspectives and energy that I trust and admire. What’s Next? Talisman has an incredibly promising future, and I encourage you all to keep following closely to stay updated with the great things happening at the project: - We now have over 8 million DOTs staked in our pools, thanks to the convenience and reliability of our products and long standing brand. - Signet, our enterprise multisig product has many promising users (Among them are Parity Technologies) and is still growing. - We have an outstanding, high-energy team that is excited for the next leg of the Talisman journey. ~ Agyle

@alz_zyd_ @bedehomender post doesn't say it would be a bad idea to regulate tech, it just says it doesn't have the political will to develop the tool to regulate tech? doesn't say it would be a good idea either, just neutral. i am saying it would be a terrible idea

swear I've tweeted this 20 times but Antitrust is the wrong tool for tech regulation. But the US doesn't have a good tool for tech regulation and doesn't have the political will to create a tech regulator

@NTmoney If Polymarket just accepted stables but was 100% centralized, no protocol, would it be worse for users in some way? I recall old school crypto pms, like @AugurProject or @BitcoinHivemind , were based on this idea that they would be censored, but that doesn't seem relevant here?

Intrade, Augur, PredictIt, and many others tried before. No one got anywhere close to the scale and cultural relevance that Polymarket has risen to this year. Why are prediction markets finally going mainstream? Many factors came together but if I had to pick 2: 1) The sheer persistence of @shayne_coplan and the Polymarket team. They willed it into existence 2) Stablecoins on Ethereum allow Polymarket to aggregate liquidity from the entire world in one simple integration. Many say “you don’t need crypto for prediction markets” which is true but they absolutely wouldn’t be taking off the way they are this year without crypto.

@ashegan @ianlapham I used to think so, but really you don’t need trustless onboarding, and there are so many practical ways prove web2 ownership, such as just platform APIs or just updating your web2 account or posting a message. We are already doing it.

my highest conviction beliefs / theses for crypto over the next decade: 1) onchain social is in its myspace era, and the coming years will yield platforms that displace monopolistic social regime of web2 2) crypto * ai will be a talent and capital vacuum as we approach the application era, the killer use cases imo will be roboadvisor 2.0 and digital twins initially 3) depin has the potential to upgrade public utilities, and personal/household compute networks are the alternative to data center arms race and allow a more equitable structure to big tech getting bigger 4) crypto further engrains itself as internet money, and harbinger for the next era of ruling nation states 5) decentralized & open source infra reaches single standard deviation performance with centralized incumbents
