Warp Lizards (Egernia nonlocaliensis) are a species of reptile found throughout the world. Relatively little is known about their ecology and biology as no one has ever captured a warp lizard, or even been able to directly observe one for more than a second. 1/19

There is a company who is now making an Olympic Barbell with a bubble level embedded in the middle. I have no words.

@Imposter_Edits @Dexerto Yes. Plant TC is really quite difficult without lab equipment and expertise though. So, I hope she can encourage more people to get into it, but I don’t think the commercial nursery business is going to collapse overnight

A YouTuber has gone viral after revealing she helped crash the rare plant collectors market by cloning them "I think that the era of gatekeeping rare plants is over"

@Imposter_Edits @Dexerto They’re not species close to extinction. They are just rare horticultural varieties. And she’s not doing anything that commercial nurseries aren’t already doing, except for making it more possible for ordinary people to DIY

@Dexerto Why is there a rare plants market when they can be cloned? Are people willing to keep species close to extinction just for monetary value? She sounds like a hero, not a villan

@drstexy @moultano Yeah personally I see no problem with humans selling their work in a subtle and non spammy way. But even with strict rules against it, the mod here was being a dick. No need to ban the guy

@WarpLizard @moultano nah gotta shut that shit down too because the first step anyone with a cynical, sales minded brain would do is create a second account to just ask "Wow, where can I buy some of this fabulous artwork?" And the first to reply "Im glad you asked...."

@drstexy @moultano This can be achieved easily with slightly more nuanced moderation. The guy didn't even mention prints in the original post, it was only in response to a question where someone asked if they could buy his work. Even then he didn't post a link.

@moultano I mean spaces have to be aggressively guarded from commercialization The second someone starts using something to make money, everyone wants in, and the quality craters

@iamdevloper Soft delete is fine, but should be exposed to the user as such. Calling it ‘delete’ is a dark pattern

TIL that when you 'delete' a chat in chatgpt, it just sends a PATCH request to /conversation/ endpoint with is_visible field set to false. i knew they won't delete your data, but this feels even more spooky now. doing "delete all" also just calls /conversations with the same payload 🤡🤡

@SandyofCthulhu Kinda, but basically no one does it. Apart from the East coast there's only a few places of civilisation along there. Plus, how expensive fuel is in Australia.

@ciaranoshea82 @JordanGuatqui @SandyofCthulhu It’s patchy, there’s stretches with no reception, but there’s plenty of traffic on the road, you’d only ever have to wait 20 min for someone to drive past. A lot of people like to exaggerate the risks but it’s just a long drive

@housecor Skill issue. It’s a great feature and makes many conditional statements much neater when dealing with values that may be undefined

I'm reviewing a codebase with over 750 uses of optional chaining. Example: user?.email I continue to believe adding this feature to JS was a mistake. It encourages lazy, sloppy, brittle, ambiguous code.

@levelsio Their marketing is the simplicity and functionality of their products and the incredible value of their pricing. They don’t need anything else

This is a handy dual function. Microwave ovens use similar frequencies to wifi, so this function allows the microwave to encode data into the radiation and double as a router while it's cooking.
