Some iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and iPhone Air owners (including 9to5Mac's @bzamayo) are running into a weird bug where a fully dead battery won't revive through a wired charger. The fix that's working: leave it on a MagSafe pad for 10 to 15 minutes. Even Apple Store techs are reportedly doing this. (Full story 9to5mac.com/iphone-turned-…)

IDK man I feel like this video wasn't well thought out. There's far more egregious misinformation and outright lying in the tech space than comparing the M5 to the M1. Can we talk about how some TV's market themselves as Mini-LED but have edge-lighting with vertical zones? Or how some Chinese companies site their display brightness based on 1% display area luminance? What about when Android brands advertise dedicated swap storage as additional RAM on their phones? How about low-end budget phones advertising the fact they have an "8-core CPU" when the number of cores is completely meaningless. Instead, he's complaining about how Apple uses Unified Memory but doesn't tell customers it's shared between the CPU and GPU. That's a feature lol, not a downside. Or how Apple's Ceramic Shield improvements are bogus, when in fact Ceramic Shield 2 was a noticeable improvement to scratch resistance while maintaining shatter resistance. There were definitely elements in here that I agree with, but they focused on the wrong things. It's a hit to their credibility imo.

Nobody is lying to you. These examples show it in large text literally in line the comparisons. They are all very clear about this, as they legally need to be. I understand it’s trendy to call tech companies bad, but this is not at all bad. It’s entirely clear.

Why did most brands decide that if a phone has 2 cameras, the combo should be a Wide + Ultra wide???? Why isn’t it a Wide + Telephoto anymore? The Wide camera is already wide enough 😐

@beenpratham It just shouldn't even be a possibility. Apps will lie to maliciously take advantage of features like they've done in the past. Android doesn't have this problem yet app devs are just fine without it.

Apple actually tried to fix this glaring privacy issue in iOS 10.3 beta by deleting all keystore (keychain) values once an app is uninstalled. However too many apps relied on this undocumented 'feature', so they ended up reverting the change before releasing the public version.

@nektworks @tuxpizza I think a large chunk of that depends on what sort of authentication sharing is happening. If google all is the mother app then removing its keystone probably affects it, but then again if its removed it means you have stale data so how would other apps get new auth data anyway?

@tuxpizza Would this cause issues with apps that share keystore items? (like, for example: if I login with my Google account in the Google app, that same login can be used in other Google apps)

well... look apple silicon is really good, like REALLY GOOD Claude did this in like 10 minutes and hasn't even applied any of the optimizations we used to get the Intel NPU run to 253x rtfx

Why does YouTube mark half-watched videos as fully completed? 🤔 It screws up my watch-later, because I can’t tell which ones I need to finish. It doesn’t ALWAYS do it, but usually it does. Am I the only one? Keep in mind that it always continues playing at the correct spot, regardless of the thumbnail, so it does know the correct time. @TeamYouTube

@4ster_light I use self hosted livesync plugin, it's pretty popular. Little complex to setup, but then works across all devices inc phones

After finding out about the Obsidian team I feel like giving it a second chance, but I still don’t like there’s no easy way to self host sync between desktop and mobile, and I wouldn’t be paying the sub until I’m convinced

Out of curiosity, why does anyone think aluminum OS is a big deal? ChromeOS today supports Android apps but runs on Chromium as the OS What new capabilities will swapping to Android allow, given the main benefit of Android (apps) already run?
