@chrislhayes Putting this on your radar. It’s a local race, but a microcosm of the Dem party. Energized grass root vs cozy backroom-dealing party boss. It’s tough, he puts relatives of patronage workers on the cmte to vote for him. But she has a real shot. newsday.com/long-island/po…

Mamdani’s entire brand is performative radicalism—calling Trump a fascist while cozying up to him for federal cash. Schumer and Jeffries saw this grift coming back in 2025 when they refused to endorse him. Now he’s the establishment, cutting deals with the same MAGA forces he claims to oppose. Strength? Mamdani’s version of “strength” is selling out his base to keep the activist machine funded. His voters wanted resistance—they got collusion.

Trump embraced Zohran Mamdani even after Mamdani called him a fascist. Why? Because Mamdani understands Trump only respects strength—and strength means taking away the voters who fuel his power. @saletan breaks down the strategy. lnk.thebulwark.com/4prBNSq?utm_so…

@chrislhayes The meeting between T and M was head spinning. Maybe T really was charmed by M. But we should think outside the box. I offer without evidence some crazy ideas:

@Kekaha_BAB We are ostensibly on the same side. If you actually want to fight for democracy, you’ll need allies, including people you object to or disagree with. Coalitions are messy. Lōkahi.

On the radio, and on this video, we talk with Dave Portnoy about his tilt to the right, and what if anything Democrats could do to win the votes of men like him.

@Kekaha_BAB @NPRinskeep @stoolpresidente Dear Gardenista, You are not excelling at winning friends and influencing people. Which is more important, insulting Dave or getting him to the join the side of “eternal vigilance”? There were a lot of assholes in the trenches helping us defeat fascism last time, in WWII.

@NPRinskeep @stoolpresidente The reason I’m taking the time to try to reason with you is that Trump is a kleptocrat, in it for himself and his delusions of being a king, who really could do great damage to this great country. If it will help, I’m sorry your feelings got hurt.

@NPRinskeep @stoolpresidente Dave, you say that you vote for one party because of what some people in the other party say. But people will say what they will, in power or not, so why not vote on policy?

@chrislhayes Town halls are way to gauge public sentiment, which is why the GOP stopped them. So are poll aggregators. Real clear has Trump up +1.5%. Nate Silver has him up +0.5% 538, arguably the best had Trump -0.3%. ABC just shut it down without notice. We can’t fly blind.

@ArtemisConsort This is simply due to the old coding language: “Because COBOL does not have a date type, some implementations rely instead on a system whereby all dates are coded to a reference point. The most commonly used is May 20, 1875.”
David Gilbert@daithaigilbert

Elon Musk is making wild claims that #DOGE has found evidence of massive Social Security fraud.... The reality is that Musk's young engineers don't seem to be able to understand COBOL databases while Musk is misrepresenting the Social Security data wired.com/story/elon-mus…

When I worked at Geico, I noticed that a certain binary column (I believe “extreme weather event”) was all zeroes. The idea that huge expensive bureaucracies don’t make catastrophic data errors is false.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE! Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security 🤣🤣

President Trump campaigned on lowering costs. But he’s letting billionaire Elon Musk and Project 2025 Architect Russ Vought kill the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. If they succeed, CEOs on Wall Street will once again be free to cheat you out of your savings.

@bellport_phys @tsmyth01 @SenSchumer The ideas that are putting them out on the news are spouting bs to stir opposition. What they are doing is legal . Pausing funding from USAID prevented $50mil to Gaza for condoms and $45 mil to Burma for DEI. Terrorist use condoms to float IEDs over Israel.

By shutting down USAID, DOGE is doing the work of Russia and China at the expense of the United States. It’s dangerous. It’s against America’s interests. Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.
