I was in #SanFrancisco last week and saw this: The Key System Building outside BART’s 12th Street/Oakland City Center station The Key was a private bus, streetcar, and train operator in the East Bay—and the precursor to AC Transit (and BART to an extent)

Fact: Special Constables lack authority to arrest/charge for drug use in public— Toronto Police Service can—and Chow can’t ask—them to enforce, but they operate relatively at arms-length It’s unfortunate to see people spreading uninformed, blatant disinformation
David Jacobs@DrJacobsRad

So why is the Ford government making rules for municipal public transportation? It's because Mayor Chow either won't or can't clean up the rampant open drug use on the TTC. Toronto doesn't have to be like this. Vote for change. VOTE FOR @BradMBradford.

@ajlamesa This isn’t really any different than fare gates (and some elevators have a fare gate outside of them specifically when there’s no concourse)

It’s extremely sad that TriMet needs to secure its elevators like this to keep them clean and safe, but it’s the reality of the contemporary United States. Perhaps something for other transit agencies to consider.

Being someone who uses Foursquare (now called Swarm) still is funny because it’ll be like: “You’ve checked in here enough to be Mayor!” ExceptI’m actually just the first person to check-in in like 7 years

Evening work continues and Gardiner Expressway remains on track to reopen before tomorrow morning’s rush hour. Update: The Jameson Avenue on‑ramp to the westbound Gardiner Expressway reopened at 6:30 p.m. Close to 300 City of Toronto staff and contractor crew members have been on site this weekend, completing final paving, installing traffic sensors and lighting, repairing guardrails, and addressing damaged catch basins and other safety‑critical work. Crews also completed catch basin flushing and cleaning, vegetation trimming, graffiti removal and sweeping. By coordinating this work during the two‑day closure needed to complete the Gardiner Section 2 rehabilitation project, crews were able to complete multiple tasks at once — work that would otherwise have required many additional hours across multiple future closures. Thanks for your patience, Toronto

i feel bad for japan because there are americans visiting enmasse who have never been to a major city. like you're seeing americans who aren't just in asia for the first time but people who have never used a subway system

Here's something I've never seen before. A St. Regis paying you 10k Bonvoy points to check out early. Aside from it not feeling on-brand for a five-star hotel, part of me wishes this would catch on.

Learn about committees. — Plain-language summaries of motions — Financial impacts Will be adding lots more in the future. Part of my aspiration to build civic tools that improve how cities work.

Hey #Toronto I vote in every single municipal, provincial, and federal election. But I moved recently and realized I had no idea who my new City Councillor is—and that I stop paying attention after I vote. Introducing motions.watch

@Conblob @questionableway @LinkofSunshine That’s interesting to learn, bc I think of airports and sports arenas as the two places in America that really love to bilk a captive audience out of every dime, and i understand SLC’s Delta Center has unusually cheap concessions too, like hot dogs for $3?

i think we should have price controls on airport concessions. using monopoly power to charge $8 for a bag of chex mix is evil
