A finding that Mr. Jordan is intellectually disabled would have barred the death penalty in his case and made him immediately eligible for parole. Now, he faces a new capital sentencing trial at which the defense will reassert his claim of intellectual disability. @TCADPdotORG

Clarence Jordan is intellectually disabled but the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals held that he had waived that issue. Instead, the Court reversed his death sentence because of “inadequate jury instructions given at his 1983 trial.” search.txcourts.gov/SearchMedia.as… @TCADPdotORG @benbwolff

Just got off the phone with PULITZER FINALIST @keribla, who was, of course, more focused on her next big scoop and was also trying to file a story. So proud of you, Keri!! 🏆

@jsmccullou @TexasTribune Jolie, I'm so sorry, but grateful for all of your work over the years to shine a light on the dark corners of the Texas criminal justice system. Thank you for all of your work, and i can't wait to see where you land and continue to follow your work.

Yesterday, I was laid off by @TexasTribune after nearly 9 years. New leadership got rid of its longest-tenured reporters and said they’ll no longer cover the criminal justice beat. No one on police, prisons, courts, the death penalty. In Texas. Here’s some of what we’ll lose:
