Hortons than at a posh-elite thing like the billionaires in the US. As they don’t live lives in a separate enclave, concerns are similar to the avg Canadian.

@benjaminbach It’s not a moral question but rather a structural one. There’s some great people in WR. But the notion that our society and government ought to be structured to cater to billionaires as they will create jobs is nonsense. Much, much better ways to create jobs….

Bought a hybrid @Hyundai Tuscon. Huge mistake.
The hybrid battery died 3 years in.
It is technically under warranty, but they have so many cars with problems that they don't provide loaners (or rental car etc). And they're out of batteries so it's been weeks. 👎👎

Had a deal last year that checked every box. Great numbers, solid team, clean operation.
One problem. The lease was expiring.
What should have been a straightforward acquisition turned into months of back and forth with the landlord trying to negotiate a brand new lease. It dragged out the entire deal and almost killed it because we couldn't come to terms.
The deal was great. The lease almost made it worthless.
When I look at acquisitions, the lease is one of the first things I check. 10+ years remaining, options to renew, & assignability. Without those, you're building on someone else's timeline.
Don't sleep on lease importance.

@bobbyfijan I’m not sure how I feel. I was out the week after my 18th birthday with zero financial support and thousands miles away. It was absolutely the best thing for me.
I don’t know if I can do that to my kids though even knowing how good it was for me

This is similar to how my wife and I have come to feel … except that for each of their careers it may/not make sense for them to live with us
But regardless, we are going to try and knock down any “stigma” in them living with us. There’s no reason for them to spend money just to be on their own. And we will give them whatever we can to make life choices easier when they are younger
What other purpose is there to make money than to ease your kids decisions on making major life chores, like having kids?

I used to be entirely in the camp that said you should kick your kids out at 18 and force them to live independently and make their own way in the world. I don’t feel that way at all anymore. I want all my kids to live with us until they get married. Even after they’re married, if they want to live on our property, or close by, my wife and I would love that. The important thing is to teach your kids responsibility, which we’re doing. They need to contribute and help around the house, which all of our kids do from a very young age. Provided you aren’t raising ungrateful useless moochers, why kick them out? Why drive them away from your family home? I don’t see the point in it anymore. I actually like my kids and like being around them. Maybe they’ll all end up scattered to the wind. But I’d prefer to keep the family together. Why wouldn’t I?
