Despite having zero obligation to join an offensive war, the British and the French have committed aircraft to defend US troops and allies in the Middle East. In return, they have been met with derision. Mind you, this comes immediately after months of hostile U.S. rhetoric towards the territory of a treaty ally. Marco knows what he is saying is bullshit. It’s extremely embarrassing and insincere.
Faytuks Network@FaytuksNetwork

Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Washington is dissatisfied with NATO’s cooperation on the Iran conflict and that all cooperation will need to be reassessed after the war. He adds the conflict will end once U.S. objectives are met.

It's ridiculous that NASA is launching a mission around the Moon this week that will send humans farther into space than ever before and it's getting almost no attention. A landmark moment in the history of our species. History books will care about this moment even if you don't.

Americans dropped nukes on Japan twice and now they‘re best friends. Americans defended Europeans for free the past 80 years and they are the most ungrateful pricks imaginable. There is a lesson to be learned there.

The New York Times is reporting that the U.S. will allow a Russian-flagged crude oil tanker, possibly the Anatoly Kolodkin, to dock and offload its approximately 730,000 barrels of crude oil amid a 'quarantine' of the island nation of Cuba.

Half the euroturds on my feed are telling me America needs to stay out of wars that don’t concern us. The other half is tell me America is a bad ally for not joining WW2 before Germany declare war on us. Oh the irony.

It’s not just that NATO refused nearly all our requests. We can’t afford to protect Europe AND… The world’s largest Arctic coastline 2nd-largest country on Earth The longest border with a close China ally The longest sub and missile approaches The GIUK Gap Because Canada’s military is pathetic and they are acting like children. It’s just too much for us to do both. Not to mention growing commitments in the Pacific that Canada refuses to help with. Are we going to protect Canada or Europe? That’s the question. My children live in North America so ignoring Canada’s submarine and missile approaches just isn’t an option for me.

🚨 HOLY CRAP. President Trump just said America no longer has to be there for NATO "We WOULD have always been there for them, but now, based on their actions? I guess we don't have to be, do we?!" "I think a tremendous mistake was when NATO just wasn't there. They just weren't there. It's going to make a lot of money for the United States, because we spent hundreds of billions of dollars a year on NATO, hundreds, protecting them." Trump NEVER FORGETS.

Congratulations to my friend @NPinkoski for translating a work that stands among the indispensable texts to France’s civilizational debate and to the resurgence of conservative politics throughout Europe. It is a controversial text, as the most consequential ones tend to be, and that is argument enough for reading it for we do not grow in understanding by engaging only with what already comforts us.

The US and Israel have each run countless simulations gaming out every single scenario, every option, and every potential reaction to every option. The idea that the Allied Powers would be caught flat-footed because the war is longer than 20 days is — to borrow a term from game theory — fucking retarded.
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani

It does increasingly feel like large numbers of people in US, Europe and Israel just presumed Iran would roll over because they are a brown Muslim country. A domestic industrial base? No way. Can’t be overstated how much people’s biases were shaped by how stupid this man was.

Good thing that we put that Aegis Ashore Battery in Romania and Poland we've only been telling everybody since like 2012, but Europeans kept disregarding it saying it wasn't real because Iran pinky promised that they weren't developing any such missiles. Also, Iran's entire space program was also a cover for their ballistic missile development. Which Europe also ignored saying Iran would never militarize its space program.
Piers Morgan@piersmorgan

So not only has Iran brazenly lied about its ballistic missile range capacity, but this means it can probably hit the UK with them - and we have zero, I repeat ZERO, defence against these missiles. Very worrying.

@WarveleyViolet @sentdefender Usa cannot bomb Iran indefinitely. If this is the real maximalist demand It's a joke. Without ground forces, marines, special forces, some ranger battalion or airborne troops this will not work. This is just Rolling Thunder Light

The demands are maximalist, but that's how negotiations work. You open with everything, see what sticks. Iran's leverage is the Strait, and the US's leverage is the continued bombing. Both sides know a deal will land somewhere in the middle, maybe a missile cap, maybe a freeze on enrichment, maybe a proxy ceasefire. The six point list isn't the final offer; it's the opening position. If both sides are already talking through mediators, is the real question whether there's enough common ground to start direct negotiations, or whether the gap is too wide to bridge?

After three weeks of war, the Trump Administration has begun initial discussions on the next phase and what peace talks with Iran might look like, with talks involving Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, according to a U.S. official and a source with knowledge told Axios. There has been no direct contact between the U.S. and Iran in recent days, though Egypt, Qatar and the U.K. have all passed messages between two countries, with Egypt and Qatar informing the U.S. and Israel that there is interest to negotiate from Iran. “Our view is we've stunted Iran's growth,” said one U.S. official who believes the Iranians will come to the table. The official said the U.S. wants Iran to make six commitments: 1. No missile program for five years. 2. Zero uranium enrichment. 3. Decommissioning of the reactors at the Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow nuclear facilities that the U.S. and Israel bombed last year. 4. Strict outside observation protocols around the creation and use of centrifuges and related machinery that could advance a nuclear weapons program. 5. Arms control treaties with regional countries that include a missile cap no higher than 1,000. 6. No financing for proxies such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen or Hamas in Gaza.
