@MarkDavis The electoral college is a bull work against majority tyranny, regionalism, and ensures the many interests in all the states get addressed and have a Voice. eliminating the electoral college is a fast track to despotism.

@JonathanTurley we already have a wealth tax. States tax your house, and some state tax your car each year. They aren’t taxing income, their taxing non-realized “gains” or value. We paid a sales tax when we bought them. We pay a “wealth“ tax annually on possessing them.

“Start spreadin’ the news, I’m leavin’ today” — that’s how the famous song “New York, New York”  captures the Big Apple’s draw. Today, the line is becoming more ironic than iconic: Many people are indeed leaving … from New York, New York... jonathanturley.org/2026/07/17/sta…

@HawleyMO welcome to being an American in the growing police state that you’ve created and allowed to flourish. You and Congress have the power to stop this surveillance state, yet you keep authorizing FISA and other surveillance. Try strengthening fourth amendment violation penalties.

Jack Smith explicitly denied under oath during his House Judiciary deposition last December that he reviewed text messages from members of Congress: Q: "Did the records that you requested from the Member of Congress include the content of text messages?" Smith: "No."
Chuck Grassley@ChuckGrassley

I received records frm DOJ confirming Jack Smith's investigative team reviewed the contents of text msgs sent by 44 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS Im 1 of the 44   Im alerting my colleagues who were impacted and will release the records w Sen Johnson so American ppl can see the evidence

@realannapaulina @SpeakerJohnson @LeaderJohnThune I can think of nothing that will suppress Republican votes more than the Senate stripping the save America out of must pass legislation. If the Senate strips the legislation, actively assisting the Democrats, then they have only themselves to blame when the Democrats take power.

If SAVE America is stripped out of ANY of the legislation @SpeakerJohnson has agreed to send to the Senate, the blame will fall solely on @LeaderJohnThune . There’s a little thing in the Senate known as the “amendment tree.” It determines the maximum number of amendments that can be offered to any given bill. If Leader Thune deliberately “fills the tree,” he can block individual senators from offering additional amendments—such as one to keep SAVE America attached if it is stripped out. Going based off his comments so far, Thune is planning to do this with the NDAA by offering his own version of the NDAA that does not include the SAVE America Act and “filling the tree.” He would probably plan to do the same with any other House-passed bills that include SAVE America. Hard to hide behind other senators when he is actively working against an issue that 80% of Americans support.

@varadmehta I used to be a strong supporter of the judiciary. Now I think there should be subject to election since they’re just political hacks. They burned through their legitimacy and the responsibility lies with justice Roberts and the other Supremes, who have not disciplined judges.

Maybe what the United States needs is not to be governed by billionaires who don't know what it's like to earn their daily bread, and for the government not to take such a huge chunk in taxes 😅. Capitalism only brings inequality and extreme poverty; just look at Musk and Trump compared to the minimum wage 🤣.

Virginia Democrats are forcing movie theaters to close caption movies… because that’s the critical issue families are facing as costs rise.
Delegate Phil Hernandez@PhilforVirginia

Going to the movies should be something everyone can share. 🎥 As of July 1, thanks to my new law, most Virginia theaters have to offer open-caption showings, with the words right on the screen. Thanks to @TylerEnglander coverage. Full story is here: bit.ly/3TmojfO

Disgraced former Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan resigned from the bench after getting charged with obstruction of justice for distracting ICE agents and helping an illegal alien charged with domestic abuse escape through a back door to avoid arrest. A federal jury found her guilty of obstruction of justice. She faced a recommended prison sentence of 15 to 21 months in prison, with a 60-month maximum. Shamefully, former Democrat politician and current Clinton Judge Lynn Adelman, gave her NO JAIL TIME. These Democrat judges--politicians and criminals in robes--prove once again they protect their own.

This is the judge who ruled that I was not allowed to speak my abuser's name out loud. Forever. Past, present, and future. If I wanted to warn another woman about the man who hurt me, I faced $10,000 in fines and jail time for each warning. It's adorable that he thought I wouldn't fight back with everything I had. It took me 441 days to get it overturned. And now I make up for lost time by making him famous. Meet Judge Pickerill. The man who stole my voice to protect a serial predator.

I don’t understand why Democrats want the value of American citizenship diluted by birthright citizenship. Or is it just anything related to Trump? Are they really willing to destroy the entire country because of their hatred of 1 man?

It's amazing that these decrepit neocon imbeciles have gotten every major issue wrong for 40 years and just absolutely insist on keeping their streak of unbroken wrongness alive at all costs. Yes, 27 million people immigrated here between 1880 and 1924. The difference is that they came here legally, there was no welfare state for them to leach off of, they were not flooding in from dysfunctional lawless third world hellholes, and they actually desired to assimilate into American culture. Oh and we had 250 million fewer people living in the country at the time. So in other words, it was nothing like our current situation. At all. Not remotely.
John Podhoretz@jpodhoretz

27 million people immigrated to the United States between 1880 and 1924 and it seemed to work out fine. What it did for our day was make sure that, down the line, the blood-and-soil inbreds at the Federalist had some competition.
